Always Waiting

Waiting to be loved
Always waiting to be rejected
Always waiting for a sign of trouble
Always giving then waiting with empty hands
Always waiting on the edge
Always waiting for the next wave of sadness
Always waiting with no expectations
Always waiting for things to change
Tired of waiting but I only know how to wait
Waiting to give up

is this why waiting makes me have panic attacks?

I am NOT trying to be smart----,but psychologist I
read,would say: "No one is coming,absolutely no one." Then, "Your life,is your responsibility."
It's bloody hard I know,but we must become warriors and fight for our own life.

I think this expresses what a lot of us feel. We're taught to wait, that the time to be loved and happy is supposed to be there for us, but we never feel like it is.

I do, though, see hope in the last line, though I'm not sure you meant that. As long as we don't give up, someday we'll get tired enough of waiting to begin the long journey to bringing all that's beautiful into our lives.

The antidote to waiting to me is persisting. Change takes a lot of time. It feels like waiting when really we're making a slow, painful climb up to the top of a mountain. The difference is in trusting that there's something beautiful there for us, which is different from waiting, when we don't actually believe that there ever could be anything beautiful for us.

I hope I've expressed myself clearly. Thank you for sharing this poem.

The thing is I do take responsibility but it feels futile.

Waiting to give up means I'm hoping to stop waiting. It feels like I only know how to exist in that realm.

Also waiting to give up is to just do nothing. And see what happens. So fighting and just let the world swallow me up. With depression it's hard to find a reason to keep living. I'm living for my boys right now.
