I know abuse isn't funny, and I don't mean to offend anyone. I'm reading a book about abuse, and it triggered a memory from my childhood.
It's a long, detailed story that I want to tell, but I'm holding back. It's layered in horror upon horror, and yet there is hilarity in it. In this one incident, I witnessed my uncle, who is my age, get beaten up by his mother (my step-grandmother) in a restaurant. We were maybe 6-8 years old. Possible trigger:
I think I peed in my pants from laughing, but in horror. My whole family froze, horrifyingly trying to hold in the laughter (but horrified) at this violent, pubic scene.

That sounds horrifying. Especially so for your uncle. Sorry that happened.

Like when the abuse is horrifying, but someone watches it laughing, and that makes it even worse.
There was an incident where my father did something abusive to me in front of my uncle who stood there laughing. Super traumatic for me!
