I fight my tears everytime I go to therapy. My therapist told me it is ok to cry. I told her it is not ok to cry. I cry when I am alone a lot but I will take really deep breaths and pause and do everything in my power to not cry. I have been taught that crying is not acceptable (part of abuse and the way I was raised).
Any ideas on how to just let it go? Or is it totally ok to wait until I get to my car after therapy to let it go? |

I also fought back tears for a long time. My family always expected me to be tough to I thought crying was a sign of weakness. It is not.
It will take some practice to learn to let go and let the tears flow. It did for me. |

It's better to be able to cry and stop it than to not cry at all. Even when I want to cry I can't. It's as if all my tears are used up.
