Are any of you victims are clergy abuse?

I still can't go into churches or any religious events without a total meltdown.

I also get scared crapless if I see a dude in a priest collar. I will get up and move seats even.

Anyone else do that?

I'm aCSA survivor but from a leader of a large cult. I was not a member I worked for him I was his first of many but younger kids in his cult. The worst thing of it all I just found out about 2 years ago and if I had said something back when it happened to me the other kids would have been saved. I can't trust anyone in authority, police, doctors as my trust was stolen. What gets me is hearing about the convicted on the news brings back the memories. I hope you can climb high enough to get over the wall there is light over there I've seen it

Yes, I am a clergy abuse survivor. I panic with religious objects/terms too.

It isn't your fault. it isn't easy to talk about it, and that is a trick of the abuser, to make sure their victims stay quiet. Please don't blame yourself. It was the abuser's choice and responsibility to hurt people. It isn't your fault.

I now have zero trust for any authority, drs police etc it takes a lot of time to trust. I'm lucky to have a caring wife & family even though they didn't know till a couple of years back I kept it all covered up.it all came out when I tried to end it all. Does help to talk, it's easy for me to open up here but still haven't found any one to trust enough to talk to councillor wise seen a few but can't talk to them.

Yes, My former "spiritual teacher" sent me into a mental breakdown. I managed to get away from his control before it got too bad, but the breakdown and social isolation I have had to endure have been painful.

Those people can be super dangerous. There's this one broad in Fort Wayne who calls herself a spiritual teacher and she's screwed up a lot of people.

Yes, I suffered "Clergy Abuse ". I grew up in a Catholic orphanage. I will break into a cold sweat at the sight of a collar. It doesn't go away.

Australia at the moment is going through a long and very expensive Royal Commission into child Sexual Abuse, in the private sector and religious,Institutions. The Catholic church seems to be very high up in the list. Unfortunately here in Australia nothing much will change as Religion is way above the law, the catholic church proved this here in Australia recently by getting a high ranking pedophile hider in pell out of Australia and hidden him in the vatican so the Australian Govt cannot get him. The problem being that the catholic church has a lot more money to waste on lawyers fees than the Australian Government. This is absolutely pathetic and really just spitting in the face of CSA survivors.I must say its just not catholic. I was abused by the leader of the Exclusive Brethren I have reported it but our government don't want to know its like they are scared of them. Just seeing any child abuse reports on tv bring back the bad memories, nothing helps until I find a therapist or Pshyc who has been through the same thing.

I'm sorry you went through that. That sounds awful.=( Yes, I too will break out in a sweat seeing a collar. I've moved seats on airplanes and busses to get away.

I always say the pope is the leader of the worlds largest untouchable organised pedophile ring in the world. Religion invented by man to oppress women and take advantage of the vulnerable. Sorry to all victims of abuse

I'm afraid you're right. I'm beginning to think that more and more every day. It gives them an excuse and ability to rationalize horrible behaviors.

Haven't experienced clergy abuse but was victimized by a therapist.
I feel a connection to those abused by clergy- we all were exploited by people under the color of authority.

=( I had that, too. I was sexually abused by a male social worker. It really messed me up. I can't go to male therapists ever again. I don't even really like male physicians working on me.
