Hello everyone!
I was sexually abused as a child (i am currently 18) and i have never really coped with it until recently. I have begun to accept it and work through it.
One issue that I am facing right now is dating.
I am currently dating a guy that does not know about the abuse, nor do i plan to tell him. He is perfect-he always asks questions to know my boundries and would never make me do anything i dont want to. He really makes me happy and i REALLY like him.
But i am tempted to run. I feel like i am getting too close to him and i just constantly feel uncomfortable whenever i think of having sex with him, or even just meeting up with him again(we are long distance). I believe this all stems back to my abuse.
I just wanted to know if any of you have experience with this and how you worked through it.

Hello bulimiasaa: I'm sorry I cannot address your concerns. However I see this is your first post here on PC. So... to PsychCentral… from the Skeezyks! May the time you spend here be of benefit.

PsychCentral is a great place to get information as well as support for mental health issues. The more you post, & reply to other members’ posts, the more a part of the community you will become. Plus there are social groups you can join & chat rooms where you’ll be able to connect with other PC members in real time (once your first 5 posts have been reviewed & approved.) Lots of great stuff! So please keep posting!

I can't relate to this one, but I can imagine that it is very tough for you. It is tempting to run of course, but ... it could be a great chance to walk through it and reframe the experience for good this time. All the best for you!!!
