As a whole I am the type of person to have a bad memory but with my childhood there's just somethings I can't remember and some I can and I know that the brain does block out bad memories, it's like a puzzle with pieces missing. So I try to convince myself that it's a lie and I was never abused as a child but I know I have but I just keep trying to tell myself I wasn't and it's like WW3 in my head. So is there a definite way of ever knowing or am I just going to fight with myself for the rest of my life?

Hello Ethiopia?: I'm sorry to say that, to my knowledge, there is no way to know for sure about things that happened to you in your childhood. I also have quite a lot of bits-&-pieces floating around in my head. And I don't know if they actually happened or if they happened in the way I remember them. Talking about these sorts of things in therapy may help you to put them to rest one way or another though.

I see this is your first post here on PC. So... to PsychCentral… from the Skeezyks! May the time you spend here be of benefit.

PsychCentral is a great place to get information as well as support for mental health issues. The more you post, & reply to other members’ posts, the more a part of the community you will become. Plus there are social groups you can join & chat rooms where you’ll be able to connect with other PC members in real time (once your first 5 posts have been reviewed & approved.) Lots of great stuff! So please keep posting!
