My therapist keeps making a statement that I remind her of a cps child. She worked with csp several years before counseling. I hope this doesnt sound mean, but I feel hurt by this. I hope she is over-exaggerating. Sometimes I wonder if she says things like this to sort of shock me out of denial when its really not as bad as she makes it out to be.

I have case managed people for many years. Many of them with similar issues, and many of them very unique. Even sometimes some of them reminded me of others, I never told them that because of the pre-concieve ideas of what certain conditions are. I think there are many other approaches to "shock" somebody out of denial.
Let her know that it makes you uncomfortable. She'll get the message. gab <div class="foot">(Edited by gloria on 07/21/04 03:42 PM.)</div>

Hello Gloria,
I have been wallowing in my own pity a while , but now I am back.... I agree you need to let her know that this bothers you that is not professional and she will understand, If for some reason she does not you may neeed to choose a new therapist if she does not respect your views, Only my opinion though.. It is not fair to basically catorgorize you.. Hope this helps , trouble1 |

i agree with the other two. and i can see why you'd be bothered by her saying that! i don't know what her motives are, but she should definitely know that this is hurtful to you. i hope you find the courage to let her know that
