I wrote a letter to a friend and I thought I would share part of it here:

I would even go so far as to say part of me is even a little proud of the life I have lived, the tribulations I have endured, the fact that I have overcome so much and I have never, ever completely surrendered to those who abused me. There is this little grain of hope deep inside of me that keeps me alive and fighting to make it. I never pulled the trigger when I had the gun in my mouth because there was a tiny voice that whispered tomorrow will be better. My motto for life has been “survive at all costs.” However, I have done more than just survive. I have managed to become a thoughtful, compassionate, loving soul.

Agreed. I hope we can all get to that place, looking back, realizing that despite the best efforts of certain selfish people, we still won in the end.

Thanks for sharing. I would wager to say most everyone on this forum would have a story to tell of the things they have survived and how. But the fact you came so close to ending it all, but had the strength to pull back away from that and continue on speaks volumes of the kind of person you are. I am glad you are here at PC, and I will keep you in my prayers that your courage will grow with each passing day and happiness will sing in your heart.

I am good at pretending everything is all right, by just gritting my teeth and just charging ahead and getting through the rough spots, but inside I am afraid of failure and getting critized for things I do. I am hoping someone can help me, or at least understand me.
