Okay so I am a 16 year old male and was coming home from being with my friends and when I got home my parents claimed that I took $50 from their drawer. They didn’t reallt care about the money but when I insisted I didn’t (I really didn’t ) they said I was lying and got angry with me. They kept talking about how I always lie and they weren’t happy with my B+ in a class I was taking. Eventually I felt like the conversation was going nowhere and I started walking out of their room. I know that was disrespectful but I felt that everytime I said no they would say I was lying so I knew there was nothing I could do. All the sudden my Dad charged out of his seat and put his arms around my neck and dragged me into the sitting room, slapping me. We were in the bedroom part before so when my mom came in my dad insisted I was lying and she believed him. He said I faked the finger marks in my neck. I was uncontrollably shaking for some reason and he kept getting in my face screaming and slapped my twice. When he left for a second I sprinted out of the house and got my keys and drove away. They are texting me to come home but I can’t. I keep having vivid flashbacks of his hands being on my neck and I feel so nervous. Besides for spanking me when I was little, my parents basically never physically abused me but now I don’t know what to do. Can someone please tell me what happened and what I should do?

Hi there, what happened wasn't fair at all and sounds abusive to me. I know he is your parent, your father and your mother can be as silly and oblivious as she'd like but you need to report that behaviour to the police. You are sixteen you can and need to get a job because your own place is now very necessary, you need your space to be your own person. In your own space you have power and you control the environment, you are respected in your own home and you call the shots which puts and end full stop to your parents unfair behaviour. What this tells me is that you are different from your parents and shouldn't be around them. You are only family if it feels like it to you, not just because you originated from them. Report them and move out!

I don't what child protective services you have but you should call them and tell them what happened. They will be able to help you more.

When child protective services get involved. They will gather all the information and possibly remove you from the home. If there is other family they can place you with them. They will do home visits. They will contact your school and talk to teachers. Your parents will probably be ordered to complete parenting classes.
