I was reading a book about survivors and getting through it and just....stuff.
Well, I had a flashback....It was of my abuser and he was yelling at me, "THEN GET THE HELL OUT AND GO TO BED". I just see myself running out of the room. The only thing I can think of is that I refused to do....something....and he got mad. This was the first time I have a memory of him saying anything at all to me around the time when the abuse happening. I mean, the two memories I have, there are no words spoken...then this. ![]() I just worry about what memory will come next. I just wish I could go through the healing process without flashbacks and memories...I just hate them so much!! ![]() ![]() BJ

Remembering seems to be necessary for healing. Remember, remembering is not the same as having it actually happen again!

I know it's awful when it feels like it's happening again. Talking yourself through it can help a lot, so that you can remember you are here, and now, and safe. I imagine myself on an enormous timeline, with the flashback happening far away from where I am right now. That helps, sometimes.
It's awful to go through, but you WILL come out okay on the other side. |

Thanks everyone. I know it isn't happening now, but that fear feeling and the anxiety is something I need to work on.
I will try to think about the timeline thing. That is a great idea. BJ

I know babe... hang in there and try to breathe through them - that can hold you gounded. In the past i used lavender oil to hold me present - it's scent is sharp and soothing at the same time. If it is the first cycle of flashbacks, it is extra super hard... they do get easier to handle... keep breathing.

Thanks Kiya. It's not the first flashback, but def. the most vivid and real. I forget to breathe, so thanks for the reminder!
