I'm so scared... And confused with my thought process of why my mind thought it would be a good idea to relapse on mouthwash. I used to drink mouthwash every night until I was sober for 51 days.. After that I relapsed on mouthwash as well. I know it's hurting my insides becasue I can feel the pain. I want to tell someone about this but how can I casually tell my pastor, "Hey by the way, on top of all of the other issues I have, I drink mouthwash as well." I can't stop myself either. I just feel engulfed by shame. Does anybody else drink mouthwash or it it just me? How do I tell someone this? I guess I'm just hoping I'm not alone in this habit...

I don't think you need to tell anyone outside your home about using mouthwash, especially if you are ashamed of it. Do you live with your family or roommates? If so, it may be a good idea to tell them about it because they can support you in your sobriety by making sure there is no mouthwash in the house. Also, if it has caused problems internally, you may want to see a doctor.

Best of luck with your sobriety!

Broadway, we need to tell our story to be held accountable for our actions. So pick up the phone and call the local AA chapter and speak with them. They can send someone out to your home and talk with you. The Big Book does mention people drinking sterno, etc. for alcohol. It is the disease but remember the disease is not you. We are as sick as our secrets so find a fellow member with a closed mouth to share this with in person. You need the FELLOWSHIP OF OTHERS for the support you need, they can help you stay accountable. tc
Thanks for this!
