our drinking bottle has a little broken bit at the top
so now all the water spills out of the bottle and we don't like it because we call it our baby bottle even though it's not really a baby bottle. |

before plastic straw bans around the US happened I would get strange looks when I said "no straw thank you." I pop the lid off and drink it from the cup. Instead of bottles and straws or baby sippy cups for me the focus point was on things that did not remind us of the process it takes to drink from a bottle, like a favorite blanket or favorite toy. maybe you can look at the bottom of your bottle and see what the name of the company is, then google it, and buy another one from the company that made it. maybe you can check with your alters to find out why they want to have bottles, if you end up not being able to replace your bottle at least you may be able to calm everyone down to where they can understand they no longer need a bottle. |

thanks for your reply and we're sorry if we baught up memories.. I think for us it's the other way round cups trigger us a lot, especially because of our time in strict isolation but maybe we can find a type of cup that works for us with a fun picture on or something we like actually we had one with butterflies around the edges but it was too big |

I hope it’s ok to post here. I don’t have DID but I do drink out of a bottle for oral sensory relief for my autism and it’s been a great nighttime coping skill. I have a few baby bottles but I mostly just use my adult size baby bottle. I mentioned this to my last therapist and she had no problem with it. She just said if it helps and no one is getting hurt it’s fine.

defenetly okay to post here, and I'm glad I am not the only one who drins out of a bottle (though lately I've been drinking out of my jane austin mug) I don't know much about autism, (I'm not sure how much you know about DID), but I think your therapist is right. if it helps.. |

I have oral sensory problems. So it’s an oral fixation. Basically chewing and sucking on things calms me down and helps with my anxiety and sleep issues. At night I drink out a bottle and I sleep with a pacifier and I have a chew toy meant for people with autism that has a lot of different textures on it. I also like to eat dense chewy foods like Little Debbie Cosmic brownies and Ezekiel bread and beans.

I actually explained this to my new therapist on Tuesday. I thought it would be tough but she was pretty accepting. She said the same thing as the other therapist “if it helps it helps.” She even said I could bring it into our in person sessions in a few weeks. I thought that was nice but I probably won’t do that. I use it strictly to help me cope and sleep at night. I don’t use it any other time. She is now one of 2 people that know that I do this. I don’t think anyone else needs to know.
