Gosh, I've had so many dx's thrown my way. I definitely have PTSD. I'm definitely depressed all the time and its been like this for so long.

I've had dx's of bipolar and even schizoaffective but after working with a neurologist and getting testing done it is found that I have a form of epilepsy.

I go to therapy I take my meds and currently I'm doing a day treatment program. I've done DBT, CBT, I've had 20 shocks of ECT (which now I find totally ironic).

Still, I can't get off the couch, I struggle to have a coherent thought. I'm on SSDI for all this. My kids deserve so much more.

I'm not really sure what the point of my post is, but I'm glad I found a treatment resistant board. If anyone has any new fangled treatments they'd like to throw my way I'm up for suggestions. I do vitamins and supplements already. used to do yoga, would like the motivation to get back into it

There is an exercise thread in the Health Forum, if looking for motivation to get back to yoga.

Once there's a neurological illness, often times, it does seem like the brain isn't as treatable to the typical psyche meds, don't know why that is. You aren't alone.

This is me. I am in same. Tried all kinds of different meds, had at least 20 ECT treatments. And DBT three times. Tried EA - too religious for my tastes. Following.

I know exactly how you feel. I can't keep typing all the things I have tried. they are in a bunch of threads.

Since you like Yoga I would suggest meditation and mindfulness. Meditation you can do even when you can't get off the couch. Exercise too of course.

See post #45 in this thread

http://forums.psychcentral.com/depre...n-escaped.html

for really specific medical problems to check and supplement, diet and exercise and sleep recommendations from Mark Hyman (Andrew Weil is also great for that stuff).

That thread describes "SNAP CLUB", is very easy to try and which seems to really work. People are reporting that meditation really does work, and in a BIG way, but you have to be patient and keep at it for a couple of weeks.

There's no easy answer for those of us 'treatment resistant', sometimes exercise or any activity I use to love makes me feel a little better than if I did nothing even though not fully pleasure, its respite which is probably worth forcing myself to do it. I don't always agree with myself on this, but who knows what suffering one has saved oneself from. Good luck.

I've been told I'm treatment resistant by several Pdocs, they don't know what to do for me anymore. Meanwhile, I'm in a living hell that I can't get out of.

I'm in the same boat. I just switched doctors hoping to find something new. Been doing a lot of reading, there are some options out there that aren't often pursued because of lack of research, regulations, stigmas and such, I'm hoping I can find a doctor open to trying new things in a careful and responsible way.

I was helped by ECT but since reducing the frequency of treatments down to once a month I've been backsliding. I feel that's kind of treatment resistant because I heard ECT was supposed to be a short-term treatment.

Have you considered TMS? I don't know if it's offered around here, or I might try it.

What meds have you tried, just out of curiosity. Sometimes people get lucky on the first try, but it takes an average of 3 antidepressant changes to get it right, and that's just the average, some people take a lot more.
As far as new treatments, have you heard about ketamine? It appears to relieve depressive symptoms in a few minutes after treatment. There are some places doing trials involving it right now, and a couple docs in larger cities are using it. If you're near a large teaching hospital, that'd be a good place to look for trials. There are some drawbacks; it technically can be abused, it has street value, so a lot of docs are hesitant to use it, it has to be given often, usually about once a week, and it's given IV. Other than that, it seems to be an almost miracle med for treatment resistant depression. There are also other trials out there for other NMDA agonists (ketamine is an NMDA agonist.
