Hi ilive4music,
Thanks for posting this. I never heard of it before. I was part of a study for rTMS (not the same as the 'Deep TMS' according to the link) last year and it did help a bit but didn't get rid of all the depression. Funny thing, since the month of rTMS, I have had anxiety like never before. It's a real handful. I want to look into Deep TMS to see if it's offered in Canada yet. Thanks again! |

I wonder how much it costs and if insurance covers it.

I am looking into TMS but with Neurostar machines. They are the only ones approved in the US by FDA... I've done some reading on the Brainsway deep brain, but haven't found anything documenting that they are approved yet....

Good point, lookinforhelp. I see the Brainsway method is FDA cleared but I guess that's not the same as approved.

I'm not sure if it means the same thing. One thing I have run across trying to do research on things. Is finding dates on information. So Brainsway could be ok by now..

It's confusing. I looked on the FDA's site and there is information about Brainsway but I couldn't find an approval date. maybe it is still being evaluated?

how many different types of TMS are there??
have you checked out the other forms of brain stimulation therapies that are out there? like ECT or VNS... ECT kinda scares me with all the side effects and memory issues. and VNS requires surgery which also has a bunch of potential side effects and issues. |

I did TMS on the Neurostar (36 1-hour sessions) didn't do anything but eat up gas making 36 trips across the island. So tried several ECT therapies which didn't do anything either so traveled 3,000 miles to do Ketamine which simply made me severely ill and gave me double vision and unable to walk for three days. I know these therapies do work for some people but with TMS, I just don't believe the efficacy research. After 7-years of unrelenting suicidal depression literally trying every therapy (short of DBS which has been recently proven ineffective) I found a psychiatrist who was willing to prescribe Nardil (an MAOI) after 2-weeks, I have been 100% free of depression- The first time in 30-years- Unbelievable...A true miracle. Best wishes

good, glad to hear that things worked out. my p-doc once had me on an MAOI, which sadly didn't work for me. it was more challenging being on an MAOI than the SSRIs because of the food restrictions. are you having any problems with that? |

I did deep TMS for 6 weeks. It was amazing for about two weeks.I felt happy, genuinely happy, ready to take on the world. Then, they started tapering me down and I got into a really bad depression. So, here I am now, depressed, suicidial, etc and seeking the help of ECT.
Feel free message me about my experience. |

I am in the process of TMS treatments. The depression lifted around the 3rd to 4th week. Then the anxiety started to get worse. I have never had anxiety as bad as I do now. Did your anxiety caused by the TMS ever go away? Thanks, |
