Is it normal when you have your period to have severe cramps, feel like you could be sick and feel like you could pass out. This happens every month. Any help ?

sounds like my periods, but you should definitely have a doctor that you can call with questions. Good Luck

Before I went on the Pill, my periods were that bad. I actually DID pass out sometimes! My aunt had periods like that and she said that natural childbirth hurt less.

The doc should be able to help you out.

it sounds like me before birth control. i have poly cystic ovary syndrome. so, when my cyst should release an egg, they were just growing and growing then eventually twisting or rupturing and it was very painful. would cause me to vomit and pass out just like you describe. when i finally had the hysterosonogram done, they found over a dozen cysts per ovary and a polyp in the lining of my uterus. i would definitely go see a doc especially if you are young because PCOS is more common in women my age (I'm 21)

Mine took blood tests and tested my hormone levels. The test came back that my androgen levels (testosterone) were high which is an indication of PCOS. Plus I had started get acne and gain some weight. So then they did an ultrasound (both the kind where they rub it on your tummy and the kind where they actually insert the probe in you) and saw that there was a mass in my uterus and something in my ovaries. So then they scheduled the hysterosonogram to make sure they were cysts.

A hysterosonogram is kinda painful, just to warn you. They dilate you with a balloon type of thing and then inject saline solution into your uterus which helps detect images (the way it bounces off the walls of your uterus tells them something apparently). Then they insert the probe and take a look around. The actual procedure wasn't too bad but afterwards it felt like pretty bad cramps. But it goes away within an hour or so.

But once they did all that and confirmed that I had cysts/polyps, they put me on a low dose estrogen birth control (I take Yaz) which leveled out my hormones and I haven't had a cyst rupture in months. Also, diet is a good way to help. Try eating less fatty/processed foods like fast food if you eat it now. And I started exercising because keeping your weight down can also help with PCOS.

Hope everything works out!!

I think you got good advice saying you should see your doc. They can diagnose you properly or even send you to a gynecologist. If you're worried, just ask to see a female doc or nurse.
Oh and how much iron do you get? That can be a good supplement to take during your periods, especially as you get dizzy.
good luck

I have been having painful periods on and off since I was about 11. Im 44. Birth control pills helped as long as I was on them, but I have had some liver problems and feel that Im am too old to do birth control any more. Seeing your Gyno is a good suggestion. They can do whatever tests are necessary to help find out what may be the problem, endomistros, csysts, fibroiods, etc. I am finally going in for a hysterctomy since my problem seems to be just serious painfull cramps that include vomiting and diarreaha and over the counter meds just don't touch it. Good luck with the Doc, don't put it off.

the wetting only happened to me once. I didn't ask my doctor about it and don't really know why it happened. That would be something to ask about because I kept that to myself.
Thanks for this!

This is "normal" for me, but it needs to be addressed with an OB/GYN. It can be a symptom of other problems. I was so afraid of labor pains, but they weren't any worse than my "normal" cramps. I had to have a DNC and that wasn't nearly as bad as my "normal" cramps.
