Have a few questions here, so work with me. OK, kind of pissed right now. I go to the health department to get my birth control pills and my pap exam. I don't have insurance and they use a sliding scale for your visit and pills. I don't know any abuse survivor who doesn't have issues with having this exam or for that matter any woman. So my blood pressure is high when I'm there. I kept telling them I have mental health issues and I'm very stressed right now. I ended up in an all out balling mess. But they don't want to give me my birth control pills because of my BP. And I check it regularly at home and it's just fine here. All they said was that I could maybe get an IUD and I had to ask about that. She laughed and said well maybe your mate will just have to keep it in the barn. I'm sorry but I've been with my husband for over 19 years and our sexual relationship is a healthy one. I don't think either one of us could handle going without. Well any ways they told me to go home and come back after I calm down some and they would recheck the BP. SO went home and took my BP a few times at home and before I left it was back to normal 122/84. So went up there and it climbed back up sitting in there. So she turned off the lights in the room and let me sit there for about 15 mins. And my BP started going down, down enough that she gave me 2 months worth of pills.
So that's the long story. My questions are has anyone been on birth control pills for a long time and just stopped them all at once? I've been on these same pills for 19 and a half years. I'm worried that I'll have some kind of hormonal withdrawals. I started taking the pill because of extreme PMDD. I'm affraid that my moods will just go crazy if I stop the pill. And my other question is about the IUD. I'd would be really greatful if anyone that has or has had an IUD could give me advice on them. And PM's are fine. I've just been thrown for a loop today.

One of my older sisters stopped her birth control right out of the blue after taking them for well over 15 years and she was fine.... and so did my sister-in-law that had been taking them for 20 years.
I do not see anything wrong with the IUD as long as the new ones do not actually let the egg fertilize them destroy it - I see a fertilized egg as a life with a soul to it. Have you looked into taking the three month shot or the inserts that go underneath the skin of your upper arm? - the arm inserts are good for three years. |

I've looked into the shot, patch and the inserts that go in your arm. They all have estrogen in them which is why I was taken off my regular pill, so they aren't an option.
I don't think I would be able to do a diaphram or anything like that. I don't even use tampons because anything like that is too triggering for me. So I'm kind of at a lose with my options on what to do.

Just a little FYI for you until you do decide what form of birth control you will be using.... the safest time to have sex and not get pregnant is the week right after your period... the body has no eggs during this time, but do keep possible std in mind and always use a condom.

I'm not worried about STD's. Been with my husband for over 19 years now and I know where he's at, at all times.
![]() Hmmm condoms, hubby would go without before ever wearing one. Just taking care of things in other ways right now.
