I'm glad everything worked out for you. I have never had one. I'm 35, and I was suppost to start getting them at the age of 20. Almost all the females on my mom side of the family has had breast cancer. My mom passed away from it at the age of 41. I would rather go to a dentist than to be around a OBGYN. To be honest I would rather have everything removed just to rid of the anxiety with it.

I would cancel like I have done before, but this time I am part of a study group for Louisiana State University and they are paying for everything and reimbursing me for my gas to go have the test done. I have already filled out the questionnaire that goes with the study. Why am I so nervous? Any replies would be welcomed.
Hi, My name is Janis and I'm new here. I found a lump in my breast in 2007 and it was stage 1 cancer. I was so blessed to have found it in the first stage. I had no had a mammogram in 10 years.
I ended up having my left breast removed with reconstruction afterwards.
It all ended up just fine, though I went through more than I ever thought I could.
Please get the mammogram, it just may save your life!
Janis
Thanks for this!

I'm glad that I found this thread. I'm 41 and went for my annual physical today and my gp wants me to get a mammogram because my breasts are apparently "dense and lumpy". I have really big breasts (E cup) so I'm worried about it hurting. I'm glad to read that most people don't find it painful. I may take an advil in advance just in case. Now I just have to phone the lab to make the appointment before I chicken out.
