I have been on antidepressants and now have sexual dysfunction because of it I have read a lot about men with this issue and a few woman was wondering if there is a place on this site that addresses this issue?
I did a search and came up empty.

I have been on antidepressants a long time and for awhile they increased my sex drive and I felt much more sexual. I lost all inhibitions.

They started to make me sick and I went off cold turkey the sexual numbness and lack of drive started before I quit them 2 years ago but it is still a huge problem.

I am new this is my first post.

Most of us have found that when our medication effects our sex life that it is important to talk to your partner about the issue and then have you and your partner take extra time in foreplay to get you both there.... some times adding a sexual toy into the mix that vibrate can help get you there.
Thanks for this!

That is a problem I've struggled with for several years now, and it's not just about getting aroused and orgasming: The orgasms themselves can be dulled significantly. Several people, including me, have talked about this problem here and in the Drugs forum. Sometimes a change in meds can help.

Have you tried "Zestra". I have been told it works really great for women.

I've tried it. It didn't solve my problem with the strength of orgasms, and it's messy, but it improved arousal a little. I've heard other women who find it helpful, too. Another problem with it, though, is, it's expensive.

According to their website, http://www.zestra.com/, you can try it free if you buy it now (pay shipping $4.95), and get two packets free. I hope this doesn't constitute "advertising," but I'm just mentioning it since it might be useful.

I have the same problem. I spoke to my doctor about it. I take prozac. She added Wellbutrin. She thought it would help me, but it doesn't. My therapist thought there was a pill that the men take that women can take as well, but I don't think there is.
The only time I was able to get aroused was when I had a few drinks. And I quit drinking a year and a half ago.
My husband and I hardly have sex. I never feel like it. I satisfy him in other ways, though, so he's happy.

Well, women can take Viagra, but it doesn't always work for them in the same way. Wellbutrin is reputed to have fewer sexual side effects, which is why your therapist thought it would probably work, but it doesn't for everybody. Some people swear by "The Orgasmic Diet." Google it for links plus you can buy it as a book on sites like Amazon.com and Borders.com.

Has any one tried mirtazapine (Remeron)? After I was put on this anti depressant my sex drive improved quite a bit.

I was on Remeron, but cannot remember how it affected my libido
I'm on Lexamil (cipralex) and have NO sex drive. I told my p-doc and she's made me wean myself off the tabs and will start me on something new, I assume Wellbutrin.

I'm also on Edronax (Google the active ingredient) and it does not have as many sexual side-effects.
I had to explain it to my partner and he still gets aggitated. But I do my best to satisfy him in other ways, even though I'd love to have a drive of my own!

I find that on the higher dosages of Effexor the sexual side effects go away, and when I added Prozac to the mix, it helped even more.

It's so hard to know what a medication will do to you. I've been on many, where sex was just totally out of the equation.

Darn.

I wish that I could offer something helpful here..but I haven't been on any meds for anything, for any reason and my sex drive crashed to a certain death....wahhhhh..
If only I had something to tie my reason to...such as med use, but I don't.
Sure would like to know what my issue is.

I hope you can find a solutiion, btdt. I wish you all the best.

citalopram is a bad idea to take as it really affects your sex drive badly
