I have a lot of summer long skirts. I love them but do not know if they are in style still? Would like to hear what you think about the skirts. I would also know what you all wear for summer?

I like wearing long skirts, but I usually wear crop leggings with them. A pair of ballet flats would go well with them or flip flops or sandals. Just don't wear wedges with a long dress, makes for weird flow lines....or sneakers....unless you want to stick out...

Personally, I'm waiting for these to come back in style.

Keep 'em...they will come back. Thanks for the feedback! I think sandals would look great with my skirts. Now watch me kill this thread.

LOL...you're gonna kill the thread, huh?

I love the long skirts! I go for sandals with them, personally.

Thanks! Now lets see where this thread goes. Hopefully I will get some good fashion advice before this thread dies. How about purses? Big or small? I like small. No hose...too hot.

My purses are on the small side, but they do end up stuffed with papers (receipts & "frequent shopper" cards) . No hosiery for me either, ty, much too hot for me.

I don't have a single short skirt. All my skirts go to my ankles. Worn with sandals. I don't think long skirts are out of style at all.

If you're worried about having too many long skirts you could take them to the cleaner's if you have a good one that does alterations too? I do. Then you could have long, medium, and shorter skirts and could figure out as you went along which would be a good choice for whatever you were doing.

I would wear a long skirt as the bottom of a coverup for my bathing suit. . . if I still had a bathing suit! :-)

I think long skirts aren't nessesarily in style, but I think they are very elegant and quite beautiful.

I used to wear shorts and cute little skirts, but that was before I started cutting my legs up. Now I'm hoping to wear jeans through June and find some long more long skirts... and explain to everyone why I suddenly don't like to swim.

As for shoes, I wear flats because I hate my toes and I don't need to be any taller than 5'10.

I think your bag depends on your frame. If your smaller, you carry a more delicate bag. My purse looks like a duffel bag on 5'7, but it "fits" me. Keep in mind that this is coming from the girl who matches the color of her shirt and her eyeliner.

Keep my purse small. Just use for my id, cellphone and lipstick and small mirror. I am top heavy and need merry widow just to give my girls the proper support. I am short (5'2"). I occasionally wear jeans and nice shirts.

As far as I know long skirts are still in style, I've seen them in every store I"ve been in, course I'm not much of a skirt person I'm a jeans girl myself, or I opt for a summer dress.

I think what matters most is how it makes you feel, if you like long skirts and the compliment you well and they make you feel good then more power to ya!

heh and I carry big bags, I have to have those 478 useless random items and the kitchen sink with me at all times
Thanks for this!

That's why I carry 2 bags! A pocketbook and a tote bag, but I usualy just leave the tote bag in my car.

NuckingFutz - When I went to Mexico, I carried around what they would call a passport holder, that had a place for your lisence, passport, change, and an extra pocket that you could put whatever in. It had a long strap so you could wear it aross your body, but then it also has a belt loop so you could just put it on your belt. I still use it if I'm going on a shopping marathon, because purses always get in the way when you're digging in the clerance section.

My question is....when are fanny packs going to come back in style.

QA, that passport thing? I call that a wallet (grins). Do not know when the fanny packs will come back in, but some runners swear they never went out of style.

Tight shirts, leggings as pants, booty shorts, and skirts that are revealing, oh yeah and see through shirts too

I think people would think me strange with the reveal wear. Forgot to mention I am pushing 50. Plus I would get a lot more unwanted attention from men.

For summer at work I wear long skirts, with bright nice T-Shirts or coloured spaghetti strap tops with a 3/4 sleeve length not quite see through shirt over it. Forget what the material is called, it's not completelty opaque nor is it completely see through, you can see shapes, but not details through it. Usually wear slingbacks with a medium heel and peekaboo toe.

For afterwork / weekends I'm strictly shorts, t-shirts, and sandals.

If I'm going some place semi dressy in the evening or on a weekend I sometimes where nice skorts that are just above knee length with a nice top.

I think my favs are the wrap around skirts. They're really flowy and are asymmetrical so it doesn't cut you off at the ankle. I think at this store called Nirvana (I don't know if they're national) they are about 10 bucks.

Long skirts are kind of ambiguous because it depends a lot on your body type. If you are taller then long skirts can make you look extra long and kind of stringy. If you are short though, depending on where they cut off, they can make your legs look kind of stumpy.

No matter what, stuff will come back in style if you just wait a few years. Do you have any pics?

http://www.stylelist.com/2008/09/18/...for-your-shape

try this site. It has a lot of pics and examples of skirts that work best for each body shape.

NF...what a great thread.
I don't go with fashion at all. I just wear what's comfortable. I could never wear a short skirt, and I do prefer long skirts if I wear one. Go for it!
