Ummm, hi everyone. I have a question regarding menstruation. I've had my period for about 7 years now...my pattern is that I have it every 1 and a half months, usually.

However, I just recently had it...a week went by, and now I'm having it again! Is this normal, to have another period so quickly after the previous?

I think only your doctor could decide if it was normal for you or not? I had periods that "stopped" but then started again in a couple days; was your last period the "usual" length? Are you sure it's an actual period and not just spotting (that can sometimes happen before/after a period)?

It very well could be normal. Keep track and see how often it occurs. Other factors may enter in, stress, activity etc. But if it occurs again next month or for 3 months say, I'd ask the MD about it.

If you are not on birth control, it could be perfectly normal. I went off birth control for close to a year and during that time I went like 2 months without having one, bled for almost a month straight, then had a couple normal periods....some light, some heavy.

There are so many things that can affect your period if you are not on some kind of hormonal meds. Stress, lack of sleep, diet changes etc... If you are curious about it or want more answers, set up an appt. with your OBGYN and she can help you out. Most likely, she can give you birth control to even you out.
Thanks for this!

To answer a couple of your questions...no I'm not on birth control, never have been.

Also, it's definitely not spotting. This is another period. It's not horrible or anything, just kind of a nuisance.

i didn't get mine till i was almost 18, then it would come sporatically like 4 month then have it for a month then in another three months than have it for a month, than it didn't come for 8 months..than i had my son, after that i had it last 2 months and then it stopped, i had an IUD put in whic helped wonderfully (u gotta give it a few months cause you will be cramping something aweful) but it regulated my periods and i didn't bleed so much (which i also had a problem with) i decided after almost 2 years to take it out. and now my periods are still regular they last for 4 days and not heavy.

Lots of things can make your periods go screwy. It can be some kind of hormonal imbalance. Stress can be a doozy on your cycle as well. If you're really worried about this, seeing a doctor would be a very good idea.

I've had this happen to me before. For two months I had periods every two weeks.

My cycle is quite irregular due to eating disorder crap.

I hope you find answers and feel better soon.

It doesn't sound too abnormal to me, at least not enough to worry about. Definitely keep track of your cycles, though, so you can take the info to your doctor and keep an eye on things, just in case.

Also, check out this website and book. It's geared towards achieving pregnancy, but the information is absolutely invaluable for ANY woman as far as paying attention to menstrual cycles. It is so essential to your health as a woman! I personally think it should be a text book in high school health class.
