Sound like a UTI. You need abx, drink LOADS of water, eat celery and cranberry juice.
Thanks for this!

Yep...bladder infection or urinary tract infection or kidney infection all pop into my head. The doctor can usually diagnose from a urine sample, nothing invasive. You do need to get antibiotics if you have one of the above, they don't go away on their own and tend to get worse. In the meantime, drink lots of water and cranberry juice - they both help. I get chronic kidney infections, it is not something you want to ignore!

(((Lexi232))) - it's sounds like a typical bladder infection(UTI) and you must get this taken care immediately. I know it's Saturday and you're probably thinking you'll wait till Monday, but please don't. I went through this myself 3 months ago and I know it's very painful and worrying when you see pink - this is blood in the urine and it will continue to get even darker and more painful if you don't get antibiotics.

All they need is a urine sample and they'll give you a cup to pee in - no gyno exam at all. You can't treat this yourself with cranberry or any other home remedy. The antibiotics will work fast and by tomorrow the pain will be better. Make sure you take all the antibiotics until finished. Drink plenty of fluids. If you don't go this can spread to your kidneys. You can also take Ibuprophen or other pain reliever for pain.

It's also good to learn how to avoid these UTI's although sometimes they just pop up. Don't feel embarrassed or awkward -I think all of us have experienced this at some time. Go to your nearest clinic or even the ER - once it was on the weekend after hours and I went to the ER. Keep up posted when you come back from the doctor.

Along with the antibiotics, you can ask for a prescription for pyridium for the pain and urge sensations. It's a urinary anaesthetic. It will turn your urine orange, but that will clear when you stop taking it. It might also be available over the counter, but DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT begin it until after you have seen your doctor. It will wreak havoc with the testing they do for UTIs.

Yep sounds like a UTI. There are over the counter tests you can buy to be sure... and then call your MD and tell them... you won't even have to go in probably.

I can't take the meds for that (and have to be really careful during swim suit time, and with some of these "modern" slenderizing clothing that have no cotton crotches! (TMI) ) so I use CHICKWEED tea to counter any UTI.

I don't know your age, but it can also develop from having too much sex!

You do have to do something about it quickly... and gain relief from that pain too!

You will *definitely* need to go in to see your doctor. Even if you can do a dipstick for white blood cells, you cannot culture it yourself. The doctor will need the culture results to make sure you're on the right antibiotic, as some antibiotics don't work on certain organisms. Also, there are other tests on the dipsticks done in professional laboratories that give the doctor additional information and clues as to what type of bacteria may be present so they can tailor the treatment. Be sure to tell your doctor (if they don't already know) of any other meds, particularly birth control meds. Antibiotics can interfere with other medications and may render your birth control pills useless. And definitely finish the antibiotics, even if you feel better. Stopping them too soon could cause the bacteria to become resistant to the antibiotic and you won't be able to use it again for that infection.

Hey Lexi, can I ask how old you are? I don't know why but between age 16-18 or 19 I would get UTIs ALL THE TIME. Then age 20 it was like the year of yeast infections. My doctor said there isn't necessarily a reason and some women just get them more often than others. She also said they would decrease once I got older (haven't had a UTI in several years now) so I was just wondering if you were around that age also.

At least now you know the symptoms and can figure it out before this point because this sounds really painful. Also, maybe ask your doc for a refill just in case this is going to be a recurring thing? My doc gave me several refills for an Rx for cold sores because they just kinda pop up and by the time you get to the doc they're AWFUL!

Doesn't hurt to ask. Glad you're going to the doc and let us know how it works out!

NP DF2, I can't take antibiotics so maybe that's why I don't have to go see the doctor to find out what to take. I find it's better to be careful and prevent UTIs...
