why won't he talk to me? :/

I'm talking to this guy Tyler we've hung out, and he told me he was really serious about coming into a relationship. Well at about 2 today he stopped texting me, i figured thats because he was at the pool. but then at around 8 my mom wanted to play with him, so she texted him and was like "hey sexy" (and no, he doesn't know her number) and he was like "who is this? lol" so she just told him her boyfriends number is close to it and he replies "well if you'd rather talk to me that your boyfriend okay " she just didn't reply. and i texted him and asked him if he was at quick check. cause we thought we seen him. he simply replies "nah" we so i texted him and was like "text me when you have time okay" he's on facebook and everything so i know he isn't so busy. and he told me i should stay away from my friend Brannon cause he would try to come between us. So i did. And as soon as Tyler stops talking to me, Brannon starts. I wanna IM him and ask whats wrong, but i don't wanna bug him. i just want him to talk to me. cause we usually talk. all day. every day. what could it be?
anyone have any ideas? i was really falling hard for this kid. we never argued or anything..

Could you call him, instead of texting, and leave a message for him to call you back? then maybe you guys could talk in person.
I text alot to with my friends and such, but sometimes I think texts can be taken the wrong way because we don't hear the person's emotions.
