Depending on how heavy your periods usually are could some rolled up toilet paper fill the job until you can find something more appropriate? Perhaps an old shirt/towel or piece of clothing you don't mind cutting up?

When I first started my periods I was staying at my nana's house, hers had ceased a long time ago, so she cut up an old sheet into strips for me, until we could get to the shop.

They used to use strips of cloth and washed them out and reused them every month. Whatever you use, make sure that it is very clean. Are there no stores of any kind near where you are? Women have this everywhere in the world. If you are near any town that has a store you should be able to get something if you can communicate enough for them to understand what you need or if you can recognize the boxes.

Roll up some toilet paper, but DON'T treat it like a tampon! (Just saying that juuuuust in case). Just go to the washroom more frequently.

Rolled up toilet paper or paper towels until you can find a store nearby or shop. Some countries have vending machines in the train stations that have supplies in them that are available 24 hours a day. If at a hotel, can ask the front desk or concierge for the closest store or pharmacy; or hosts for that matter.
