I have PCOS too...
Weight issues here too. You may be sent for an ultrasound to confirm cysts (external AND internal ultrasound--not fun but necessary to confirm the diagnosis.) |

I have seen a dr before who said she didn't feel any cysts and left it at that. but she did do bloodwork and apparently it was ok. that was last yr or the yr before. I have to see a new dr because of insurance.

I didn't think ovarian cysts could be felt during a regular gyn exam?
Good luck, though. It is treatable but kind of a pain. |

Have they ruled out pre diabetes or diabetes? Sometimes it is connected to PCOS.
When my blood sugars are normal, my cycle becomes normal. |

All that is fine! My pdoc just had all that regular stuff checked before I started lithium. And my thyroid is fine too! Its been 3 months since my period. And the last two before that were like 2 days long and basically just spotting. I get horrible cramps but no period. sometimes I get a HORRIFIC pain that leaves me unable to move! A dr in the past told me it was probably a cyst.

That is good news!
I've been told that PCOS can be a vicious cycle--it makes it harder to lose weight yet the heavier you are the worse PCOS can get. I am trying to keep up an exercise regimen and stay on my meds. |

What do you think about the stuff Ive said going on? Im going because my pdoc really wants me to. And I guess I want to know if there is something wrong with me. Im an anxiety-ridden person and I am already scared pretty much. I don't want to go there and feel like an idiot...like Im a faker or something lol I just don't like the unknown of how it will go.

You don't have to know anything, just your symptoms.
I don't think they do anything but talk to you the first meeting? The only thing I personally had a hard time with was the internal ultrasound. Even then, they can give you anti anxiety meds. |

oh yeah--
they may put you on the pill if you aren't already. (I can't due to a progestin reaction/sensitivity) |

I have PCOS.
I was never referred out to a gyno although I think that may be in part because I have no intentions of having children. I had a bunch of blood tests and an ultrasound then was put on the pill. My friend ended up having some sort of surgery but I think that was because she was trying for a baby at the time. |

I have this. When I went for the exam she did an external exam and I nearly jumped off the table when she pushed where my ovary was. She signed me up for an internal ultrasound. I am NOT A FAN of the internal ultrasound. They found huge cysts. So I had surgery to remove some. A few years later and everything is messed up again. I went back and she asked me if I just wanted to be past all of it and have a hysterectomy. Best thing I ever did. Turned out I had really really bad endometriosis. One of my ovaries was actually adhered to my colon. Gross I know.
So now no uterus, only one ovary, and a lot less pain. And no periods....did I mention no periods? I love that part. |

I also have PCOS. I struggle with weight, facial hair and acne. I've been on the pill for many years so my period is regular. There are many other side effects and I believe depression so another.
I am also premenopausal and it's not fun. |

Today it feels like someone is trying to pull my ovaries out through my vagina! The strong pain is gone but I am having annoying cramps. Its been 3 months since Ive had a period...so maybe I am about to get one...I don't know. Either way, today is no fun. Im extremely emotional too which could be the bipolar. Idk. Today sucks!

I have had symptoms for a while now but I was diagnosed in December after not having a cycle for three months. They first checked for a pituitary tumor as my prolactin levels were high. So I had an MRI done and it came back clear. GP drew blood to test all the things gyno would and referred me to him, the MRI and a transvaginal ultrasound. Ultrasound revealed 36 cysts on one ovary and 38 on the other, thus I was diagnosed with PCOS.
He suggested weight loss (said that 20/25 pounds should do the trick) and tested me for prediabetes and thyroid issues, etc. All of my tests came out perfect which was good but was also bad he said because he didn't know how to help me because there was nothing to fix. Even my prolactin levels returned to high normal. *shrug* He suggests birth control for more regulated cycles, of which I decline because he said there was no negative effect so long as I had one within six months (or the cramps would be unbearable). He said that when I was ready to have kids he would help me, so until then I feel no need to 'worry' about it and just kind of let it do its thing. I've always had pelvic pain so it's hard for me to know when i'm in 'pain'. When the spasms come I just hold my breath until they pass and normally forget about it immediately after - they have become normal for me. __________________ A majorly depressed, anxious and dependent, schizotypal hypomanic beautiful mess ...[just a rebel to the world with no place to go...] |
