Howdy Ladies
![]() I am sure we can all relate to having PMS to one extreme to the other. Maybe we can help each other out. My question is: How do you cope during PMS week when your brain falls alseep for 8 days (feel like a zombie)? Mellors, put your wig, skirt, bra, and make-up on if you want to reply to this thread! ![]()

I am one of those people who are completely out of it for two days... The pain, the zombie feeling etc...
What I have found to help is cranberry juice... but regularly, not just when you need it, Calsium and magnesium supplements and sleeping with a hot bottle at night... especially against my kidneys... But at the moment I don't have to worry about all those things.... ha-ha!

Ok for years I never understood that I had PMS, I always just thought I was depressed or *****y. LOL.
Now that I'm really getting to know myself, I'll get my period and then be like, OH that PMS was so good. But I'm still not noticing it as it happens......I'm 28 and still just getting to know my body LOL!!! So...don't have much to say as far as remedies go. My mom always said milk was good.

My PMS seems to last (according to my husband) for 4 weeks at a time.
He has even called me a pitbull with lipstick! I guess I will watch this thread! Pilatus, your wig, skirt thing REALLY made me laugh! ![]()

I can always tell when my time of the month is coming (PMS symptoms). I get very tired and have to have chocolate right before. I never write down when my period is to come because I always have these 2 symptoms a few days before it starts.

YES........ I have to agree with Leslie here - CHOCOLATE always helps ME out once a month and it was even recommended by my GP / OB-GYN - but it must be DARK Chocolate to get the full benefit..... the chemicals in dark chocolate replace what we women hormonally loose during our cycle - I guess you can say chocolate is a proven HAPPY pill, from monthly cycles to not getting enough from your man.
Good Luck...................................... (and) if nothing else soak in a heated pool / tub. LoVe, Rhapsody - ![]() |

I know that using herbs can help. (My MD is also homeopathic.) Younger women can take blue cohosh, older take black cohosh (though it doesn't hurt you to take the other, it helps more if you take the better one.) Also EPO evening primrose oil does wonder with symptoms. There are others, why not check this out online searching? Feel better

![]() 2-3 days before my period starts my anxiety levels and paranoia go sky high. Does anyone understand the cause of this? or How do you cope?

Pilatus said: Hello Ladies ![]() 2-3 days before my period starts my anxiety levels and paranoia go sky high. Does anyone understand the cause of this? or How do you cope?

From my 10 years (plus) experience with PMDD..... it is all due to the drop in the female hormones, the ones we need to keep us happy, balanced and nice to others - that is why DARK CHOCOLATE is often recommended.... cocoa contains the chemical we loose during our monthly cycle. HOW I COPE I mentally know that it a physical reaction and that it will be come to an end or subside enough to deal life & people again with it within 2-3 days..... I start coping by buying a large Dark Chocolate - Hershey Bar and eat two pieces of it everyday (starting 2 days before my period is to start) and cont' for the entire week of my period, plus I increase my Celexa 20 mg to 40 mg during the week of my period (approved by my doctor) and I learn to relax, listen to relaxing music or a relaxation CD, and I leave the room if I find that my unbalanced hormones (my mthly mood) during this time might try to attack another person... people that I usually love the other 3 weeks of the month. Hope this HELP's............................. Good Luck. LoVe, Rhapsody - |

just something that helps the PAIN go away-
relax, relax and relax again! when we react in suffering to the pain we make it all worse. when we stay relaxed and don`t tense up and don`t change our body position (laying on your back is best, at least for me) then we can start feeling bette. i know this drom my persnal hexperience and i had to deal woth horrible stomachaches, pain in the legs, heaahces sometimes and even vomiting.... damn. i thank God it`s over .... dong quai is a good thing that you start taking a week b4 the period is supposed to start. and all the painkillers.. i guess you know... what i DIDN`T notic however is that being out of focus! really these days i have itand i am SO out of focus and so tired... humm,,,,, we get easily sick b4 the period.our imune sistedm becomes weak.... ![]() |

I used to take Teng Kui (spelling) which helped. I started the day before my period or when the stomaches would begin... it's herbal, which is nice and safe.
And I used to use cyclokapron because I used to bleed a lot... a lot - a lot. But if you have hight blood pressure or any kind of heart condition then it is very dangerous to take because it's a blood coagulant.... It also helped with the cramps and stuff a bit. I found out recently from the gyno that the reason my period was so painful is because of cysts... But now I am lucky enough to say I don't have to experience any periods anymore!!!!!!!! (Out of choice... implanted contraception - it lasts for 5 years!) I will never look back... ever!

I used to have very regular periods. Every 28-29 days. I kept track on the calendar, and the week before it was due, I would avow not to act on desires to kill anyone(my husband mostly) should the impulse occur. Just knowing it was THAT week helped a lot with the anxiety and paranoia that I sometimes got. Now I am in a spot as it appears I am pre-menopausal or perimenopausal and my cycles lately have been 5 -6 weeks. I do get the paranoia and anxiety 2-5 days before now but it's unpredictable--and this has been difficult to handle. Plus my periods are a lot heavier and the exhaustion has really increased. I am sure I will continue to rely on chocolate but I have to think it's time to start looking into herbal remedies described above.
