Most nipple discharge is not an indication of any thing serious - so you can relax there...... but I would suggest that you make an apt with your GP on Monday to have it checked out..... and there is always the ER if you feel the need to go have it looked at over the weekend.

P.S.

Your doctor will probably order a Mammogram - have you ever had one done? - I have had two and all was clear both times.

And - stop squeezing your nipple as it could increase any inflammation you may have in the milk ducts.

the blood is probably from squeezing it! don't do that! the discharge could be hormonal related. calm down. panicing only makes it worse. call the dr on tuesday and go see him/her

I wouldnt panic as its probably nothing much.

You CAN get infection in the milk ducts in your breast which is what it could be, or it could be a simple infection of the nipple. We see this all the time in breastfeeding women but it can happen outside of that too.

If your hormones are out of whack that could absolutely be whats causing the discharge, your body could literally be in milk production mode and producing a tiny bit of milk. Nothing to panic about either.

In the mean time to see you doc, you can try warm showers on the area, cold compresses (cold, not icy) and massage GENTLY to see if that helps.

Will do get it checked out by a doc. I don't want them to have to cut off my nipple or anything! I noticed a couple of drops of dried blood on the inside of my bra, I guess I wouldnt be freaking out so much if I hadn't seen the blood. It doesn't hurt when I touch it, just a little discomfort I will feel out of the blue. On a scale of 0-10, i would say a 0.5, but its enough to notice it. I don't normally notice my nipples unless Im in the act of doing something. I used to have it pierced, but the discharge was a different discharge, I took the piercing out in december, but I have had nipples pierced off and on before and never anything like this. Besides, the holes have long since closed up, and the only discharge I had from that was dried lymph stuck to the barbell. I guess I'm not so freaked today, even though i still had a little drainage, but its still scary to me.

And..... to answer more questions, I am only 22, and not pregnant and never have been. Okay actually, after reading about Prolactinoma, now im nervous again. You know this anxiety is a pain in the ***, i have to pick one of the worst possible outcomes out of this..... But I just need to take a chill pill and call the doc on tues. Oh no, that means i have to get the double wammy, the full coochy doc check up, because i was overdue for mine and didnt want to go back. EEK man o man!!

Oh and another dilemma! I did go to this one coochy doctor, but apparently she screwed up her hand really bad and needs multiple surgeries so she wont be coming back, and these two new docs have taken over the facility. Well, another issue. My old coochy doc is not a PPO, and it would be easier to go to a PPO. So I get the lovely job of finding a new doc!!! This is what happened when my heart issues hit me, I had stopped seeing my pediatrician once i turned 21, so i had no doc until the time came to where i HAD to search for one. Why do I wait to pic a doc until i have an issue? You know i think eventually i will get me a phych doc just so i can ramble off all my crazy lifes findings, journeys, and just so I can have the opportunity to cry in someones lap!

If you're sure your not prego, it might be something as simple as your bra irritating it. Or if it's close to that time of the month it could be hormones. Time to find an OB/Gyn, good luck.

Okay, I went today. #1, i still have no period, and my last depo shot was in jan. Doc said it could take up to a year to regain my period. #2, got my pap smear done. #3, he did my breast exam and did not feel any lumps or anything unusual, he has a feeling my nipple discharge may be a result of my underactive thyroid, but he is having me make an appointment to have an ultrasound to rule out anything just in case. He said he is not worried (which sounds good). Okay i feel much better now!!

I would get it checked out.I thought it was discharge too,but it ended up being breast milk.My dr sent me to get an MRI and they found a 6mm tumor on my pituitary gland, and that is whats causing me to lactate.
