Okay, we've talked about great bras, but what about when that bra doesn't fit? Who has trouble finding a bra?

I have a huge back (sz40) but that size all starts at sz DD or bigger. My boobs are barely a C (and that's when I'm bloated one week a month).

My drawer is full of B and C 36s and 38s. They cut into my back something awful. Some bras I can fit an extender but the extra metal buckles chafe. I have a few sports bras that will stretch but there are some times you don't want to wear a sports bra, if you get my drift.

Hi Rcat... I really hate bra shopping too, but for different reasons.

Have you ever looked at "bra extenders"? They are little swatches of bra-like fabric, about 2-inches wide, with hooks/clasps... so you can hook them up to the back of your bra, and make the band bigger.

It sounds like that might work for you? You'd be able to buy a smaller size bra with the right cup size, and then make the band as big as you need (you can use multiple extenders, though it might look a little odd... it should work fine).

Just be careful with the cup sizes... since they're usually sized relative to the brand (e.g. an "A" might be 1" bigger than the band,so the same "A" cup will by physically bigger with a bigger band.)

I found my bra extenders at Kohl's. I had to order online and pickup, because even though they had them in stock at the store, nobody there could find them when I went!

Try here to see what I mean: Search Results | Kohl's

You should be able to find them at Amazon too. I'm not sure who else might carry them, they're kind of a weird little specialty item.

Good luck!

no kohls in Canada but I do have some extenders. I find them difficult to use; they have come undone on their own or else the extra clasps cause irritation.

finding the rigth bra is really important for your body and for your own well-being. I had the same problem as you. I ended up going to get a bra-fitting at a good underwear-store. Of course I had to let another person measure me etc, and that felt a bit intrusive. But I told myself that it was like going to the doctor... She discovered that I had the complete wrong bra-size, and I would never have known if I did not have a fitting done. She helped me find a good bra that made my boobs look great, and made me look a lot slimmer. The bra I ended up bying was almost out of my price-range, but it was worth it. Top quality, and now I have bougth two more of the same on e-bay, to get it a bit cheaper. In my opinion, every woman should have a proper bra-fitting! Getting the rigth bra made me feel better about my body, and a lot more comfortable.
Thanks for this!

Extenders never worked very well for me either...

For those of you who have probs with getting a bra extender to stay, here's a tip I've tried with success: Once you hook up the extender, use pliers to gently clamp the hooks down. That will keep the extender in place.

I shop at bravissimo in UK. The only place that has big selection of all sizes . And they do bra fitting. Store for big chested. I have narrow back. But bigger cup size. 34E. Or something like that. Not huge but disproportionate to my back. I can wear 34DD but they don't fit as well and not too many places carry them.

My poor daughter is 32G. Not only hard to buy clothes , she has to sleep in nightgowns with built in soft bras. Otherwise it hurts to let her breast hang around.

Thank you! I'm a C cup and can't find anything bigger than a 38C either! What is that?!! 38's work until my back starts hurting then they cut into me! I've been racking my brain trying to find ways to tailor them to fit comfortably. Maybe cut up my old ones and extend them where I need them to be or something!

Hope this migth be of some help:

Great site for finding measurements.
http://www.barenecessities.com/feature.aspx?pagename=bra-fit-checklist&cm_re=Fit_Sizing-_-2.1-_-CheckFit

Measurement is super important. Having a bra-fitting to find my measurements changed the life of my boobs dramatically to the better! But if a bra-fitting is out of the question, there are instructions of how to do it yourself. Like the link above. I am a f/g-cup, and I have a slender waist, so finding a bra with big cups and a band-width that fit me, was really hard. I was always wearing bands that were never where they were supposed to be, or the cup was wrong and made me look like I had a double set of boobs. Bands were always digging into either my back or my shoulders or both, riding up and making the absolute worst of my "back-fat"... could go on forever... Getting the rigth measurements solved those issues. (I kid you not!It did!)
And for the
maddening process of finding a bra/store that has that band-width; as a starting-point here is a list of where to get bras with wider band sizes for small/average cup-sizes:
Where to buy big bands with small cups - Venusian*Glow

When in doubt, I recommend calling a store to find out if they have your measurements before wasting time and energy by going there, only to discover that they don't have a f...ing clue what you are talking about... ( I have done this several times, and saved myself the time and the money to travel, as well as the hassle of not finding what I came for). By calling them you have made them realize that they just lost a customer by not having a better selection. Even better; write en e-mail to customer support. I worked as a store-manager for a while, and I can tell you that one really smarts.
I know people also order directly from the maker when they find the rigth bra. The brands themselves have web-pages with their own customer-support and they probably would have a lot of good advise as well. And be able to point you in the direction of a store that carries the bras that would fit you.

I thought that my dream of finding a beautiful, sexy bra was not going to happen, and that I would have to go through my intimate moments wearing granny-bras. Thankfully I was wrong. I just had to do a lot of research first... and have a proper bra-fitting...

Wow, I'm sorry about the extenders - and surprised! I didn't realize so many people had trouble getting them to work. I guess I lucked out on the ones that I found, as I haven't noticed any problems with them (though I'm just using them on one particularly terrible sports bra, for exercising).

Sorry! But, glad others were able to offer some better advice!

I have a hard time finding bra, as i have scoliosis, my right breast is way smaller than my left. So if its fit for the left one then it isnt for the right and vise versa. But things get better since i've been in therapy for my spinal. As the result for a better posture, my left starts to catch up with my right, it is growing. I feel like a teenage girl again having breast growing up

I quit wearing a bra. I wear one very rarely, and that's only if I'm working out. BTW i'm a 44 DD. Back actually hurts less when I don't wear a bra.

Don't your boobs hurt when you don't wear a bra? Mine do. (I'm 36DDD, don't have back problems)
