I know this a personal question that only I can decide on, but with warmer weather approaching I need to make a decision.

I hate everything about shaving, except for the end result when I rub my legs together and marvel on how smooth they feel.

I've already made the decision not to shave my lady parts, mostly because they are very sensitive and get irritated very easily, plus it is the part of the body that grows back very fast, and the upkeep is a nuisance.

I'm debating on whether or not to to go without shaving my legs and my armpits. When I think of girls who don't shave their armpits I think of stoner eco-friendly hippies. However, when I got my haircut at the beauty college, the student hairstylist wore a short dress and her legs were unshaven. I found this fascinating that she would be comfortable enough to bear unshaven legs in public, although it was indeed unusual to see.

I think I would find a sense of empowerment to be unshaven during the spring and summertime, but I am also worried about judgement by other girls. Then again, I've never fit in with being girly and I shouldn't care what other girls think of what I do or don't do with my body. I don't want to shave, but I feel like I have to because the majority of girls shave and that I'd get made fun of if I walk around in shorts and hairy legs or wear a tank top with hairy armpits.

What do you think?

I would work more on developing a body skin care routine that really works. Like some body lotions make my skin suffocate and sweat. Some give me blackheads. If your skin looks good enough (i.e., well cared for), the hair wont matter.

I personally find it gross that any woman would choose not to shave their body everywhere that has hair. I have made the choice from an early age to shave my lady parts, my legs, and underarms but to each their own. If it feels right for you not to then don't

This is exactly why I'm nervous about not shaving. Women have been enslaved into the society norm thinking that if they're not as hairless as a naked mole rat then they are gross and disgusting. And there are too many people nowadays who are so self-entitled and judgmental that they'll make fun of me for being different. And yet men can be as hairy as a bear and people still think it's sexy.

There are lots of women who don't shave anything. There are lots of women who shave everything. Do what makes you happy.

Honey do your own thing. I would never personally make fun of someone for being different. I was bullied all through school for being different so I know what that feels like. If you don't want to shave then don't it's your body and there for it is your choice. I was just stating my personal thoughts. I am what I like to call an anti feminist meaning that I believe in traditional gender roles for men and women. I believe women can work but I also believe that a woman's first job is to take care of her husband and kids. I believe women should look their best at all times and be clean shaven but if you don't believe that way it's fine. You have the right do as you please. Do what makes you happy not what society tells you to. This society caters more to feminist then the anti feminist like myself anyway. It is starting to become more normal not to shave.

I have to agree with Onward. Whenever I watch Remington Steele, I'm always very disappointed when Pierce Brosnan takes off his shirt...

Personally, I shave. It's what I like. I feel more comfortable, physically and mentally. But when I see women/girls who don't shave, I think in my head "props to you for doing what you want regardless of society's opinion." It takes guts, and I respect that. Anyone that makes fun of you is narrow-minded and mean. They are not worth your time or energy.

I had this same question last spring to myself. I did go through long periods of not shaving but then I would feel embarrassed if I wanted to wear shorts or take my kids to the lake, so I would shave. shaving is triple-annoying when shaving a month's worth of growth. when I was hairy I would keep it covered, and if my husband didn't see it or expect me to shave tbh I probably would ditch it forever. I did go out a few times in shorts and tried to cover it with socks which I think drew more attention than hairy legs would have.
I would love to not shave this summer as I think it would help me with my ocd-trich related issues not to obsess on any body hair period but that is a different room.
do what you want what makes you happy. you can always keep it covered on days when you feel self-conscious. if I see a woman with unshaven legs/arms with it out in public I actually find it admirable and brave.
