Anyone suffering from night sweats, how long do they last and is there anything that can help to cope with them?

Mine come and go........ the way I deal with them is to wear nothing to bed, place two fans on me (one on each side of room, on high) and use a sheet for my cover.
... while this does not solve the problem - it greatly helps. |

yeah I get them tooooo. But no hints.I'm in the middle of winter here(australia) and am tempted to go to bed with the big doona but then I wake up (for toilet and this too is part of my symptoms) and my shirt is soaking wet. Then I have to go loo in the freezing cold I'm scared of catching a cold.I've been going thru this for a long while. I think every woman is different. I heard if you got your period young you go thru menopause young,Not sure if that's true.I'm 50 and have been peri...since 45 but got period late teens.I used to think I'd never get period. I used to pray to get period. Now I shake my head at myself....he..he..Hope you don't feel too uncomfortable for too long..kind regards Jjulia.

Every one is different with the night sweats. I have past menapause about seven years ago. I never had really bad night sweats but I do get hot alot faster and find I need only a light blanket and light pajamas where I used to wear flannel pajamas or sweats to bed and used a heavy comforter. I find that most nights I spend soem time first covering up then turning back the covers and alternating all night long. I can't face my husband for long as his body heat will throw me into a hot flash in no time at all. I have never had nioght sweats so bad as to have to get up shower and change the bed but my Aunt used to have to do that all the time. I guess I should count my blessings. The thing I really like about passing through the "change" is...no really big mood swings related to hormonal upheavals.
