That's wonderful news! (Well, if wonderful can be used in discussion of such frustrating symptoms). I'm so glad you are finally getting treatment that will help and seeing the specialist.

Possum, I think you are very brave for getting all these tests done. Your journey sounds very much like mine.
I had to have an ultrasound and I had to have a DNC. They treated me so well. Everyone was kind and supportive. They made sure I was not in pain and stayed with me every step of the way.
You are absolutely doing the right thing in following up on this and doing what you need to do to take good care of yourself.

This time in our lives is very confusing and we need to use all the resources at our disposal to be in good health.

My appointment with the gyn is tomorrow. For the past ten days there has been absolutely nothing in the from of bleeding and I haven't needed to take anything for it.

Now I feel like tomorrow's appointment will be a case of me wasting the specialists time. I will still go but feeling stupid.

I had the hysteroscopy this Wednesday and the Biopsy. Apart from a little bit of a panic attack on the table before the anesthetic I am glad it's over. Waiting to get the results. The Gyn didn't seem to think that anything looked wrong so I am not worried.

So glad it is over. My experience was that they told me what was wrong and what corrected it and that was it. I hope that is true for you too.

Why don't you ask for a hysterectomy- lots of problems will be remedied.

Since having the procedure there has been no bleeding at all and my iron levels have stabilized. Should things change that may be an option. I do have another appointment with the GYN on the 17th Jan but for now I will leave things be.

My experience was that if you need a hyserectomy you will know it. There was absolutely no doubt in my mind that it was time; nor was there any doubt in my doctor's mind.

Should not have opened my mouth yesterday. Here we go again.

Least I have my appointment in a fortnight. Have begun to realize that nothing is normal at this stage.

The appointment in Jan was okay. This last month has been like I never had the hysteroscopy in Dec.

My period just wont stop and the cramping and moods are all over the place. Last year I had an iron infusion because I became anemic. It's not like I have fibroids or anything nasty in my uterus that would warrant a hysterectomy.

I have heard that my GYN doesn't like to do things without a very good reason. Having said that my normal doctor has suggested it before. I have an appointment with my GYN on thursday this week and will let her know what is happening.

I didn't have fibroids or anything except a uterus that wasn't cooperating when I had my hysterectomy. I had a hysteroscopy and D&C about a year before and at that time I had a "boggy uterus" (retained uterine lining causing heavy and irregular bleeding) but I don't know if I even had that with my hysterectomy. It just was my uterus was not working, I was in pain, anemic, and unable to really function because of the bleeding.

Hysterectomy - HysterSisters might give you more information.

Thanks for the link beyondtherainbow. I joined. Seeing a video about it all made it feel more real/scary. Did your moods improve after the procedure?

This appointment had been made back in January so I suppose this is a good thing for following up. I will try not to mind read what the gyn will say or not say until I hear it from her mouth.

No it's not nice at all Laurie.

My moods did improve after the surgery. I was already in early menopause and while my ovaries were left in the surgeon said it would only take about 5 years and I'd finish menopause since they cut some of the blood supply to the ovaries. That seems true and so there are no more mood swings from that. Although oddly most PMS goes away. You'd think you should have it but it's just gone. I asked if that meant it was all mental and she said it wasn't but it was just a weird aftereffect.

I've never regretted it for one minute.

It would be so wonderful not to have the mood swings that started from puberty. I can be be one very cranky and emotional possum. My general doc said that there was no point in leaving the ovaries in.

I think that the hormones are a huge factor in emotions for me. Looks like mental issues but it gets thrown into overdrive with the screwy hormones.

My ovaries were left because I had shown that I'm exceedingly sensitive to hormones with the Mirena IUD and my doctor was afraid if she removed them I'd be stuck IP frequently as my body fought its' way through chemical and sudden menopause. Otherwise the ovaries would have gone too. At one point they considered removing one because they thought I had cysts but it turned the cysts were on my tubes. I do not miss that part at all.

Thanks Rainbow. I did look at material that suggest a mirena as an alternative to a hysterectomy but my Gp says that he wont do that because I would need it to be done under anaesthetic and if it didn't work then it would mean putting me under again to remove it and that really isn't an option. Just a lot of mucking around. My anxiety does get the better of me.

The other site talks of having ablations to stop the bleeding but that doesn't seem to be pushed as much in this country.

It's Tuesday so two more days till I see the Gyn. That will come soon enough. Then will sort out what needs to be done from there.

Went to see the GYN today. She sent me off to get some blood tests done and has also prescribed a pill called Primolut. She said it was like having a Mirena implant only in tablet form. I start taking that tomorrow and am taking my Tranexamic acid for the pain and bleeding. Can't say that I am overly inspired by the list of side effects that is listed for Primolut but I need to give it a go.

I am on a short leash though and have another appointment to see her late May.

I am just over it and cranky.
