I'd like to sleepover with a guy, but the problem is I am very gassy in the morning....enough to wake myself up...It's like a Mariachi band going on under the sheets.

I'm extremely embarrassed by passing gas. Even within the family we don't pass gas in front of each other and we keep it in the bathroom and the bathroom only.

So how would I be able to control my gas in the morning? Would Beano work if I took it the night before? How does Beano work anyway? Is there anything else I could try? Holding it in only works if I'm awake, and he'd still be able to hear me in the toilet...Gah...this is such an embarrassing question but I don't want to sleep with a guy if I wake him up!

Have you ever been to the doctor to work out what the problem is? Do certain foods tend to set it off? Lentils and Cabbage are notorious for making out gut gassy. Have you tried probiotics? If you can find out what the problem is maybe you won't have to deal with this issue. An embarrassing question for you - are you constipated? Lot's of remedies for that. I have never heard of Beano as I live in another country. Maybe you could try it to see if it does help.

You never know - the guy might sleep straight through it.

Tell him your concerns...if he's a keeper, he'll understand.

That's a hard situation. I think people in general can be gassy in their sleep. A lot of the times it's contributed to diet. I had an ex that told me that I pass gas in my sleep and he told me to quit holding it in.

It's suggested to limit grains and sugar and to add probiotics to your diet. Don't eat so close to bedtime either.

So when you say your sleeping over with a guy are you talking about sex? Or spooning? Cuddling?

Well to be frank, if one is engaging in sex there’s an exchange of body fluids, saliva, sweat, areas being explored that are private to some. Basically sex is messy & one “bares all” in the exchange.
So to me, gas, is not such a negative compared to....other things. That’s all.
Thanks

I don't know what Beano is.

Have you seen the doctor in case the doctor can help?

I kind of think that excessive gas is made due to anxiety. I don't know if you are a particularly anxious person, or if you are in the midst of stressful events to make your system busier than usual.

It made me smile to think that your family only passes gas in the bathroom. I've often heard that's the only place you should do such, but sometimes, it doesn't wait!

My feeling is, if you are comfortable enough to have him spend the night with you, it's probably important, at least for your own peace of mind, to discuss this with him before the time arrives. Just be honest, and keep it light and funny, yet serious, too. Laugh about it with him, but let him know that this is embarrassing to you, but it happens. See how he responds. If he's a good guy, he will understand.

Hope this goes well for you, and hope you'll come back and post again to let us know what happened, what worked, and what didn't.
Thanks for this!

I did sleep with him, no sex, and did not pass gas at all around him. Ive noticed that with healthy eating and lots of drinking water for the past two weeks have eased the amount of gas to a normal level. The worst part is having gassiness at work. Its hard to hide it.

Glad the sleepover went well and that you've found a way to reduce the gas.
