I need to have a medical procedure next month. Filling out the paperwork, I see that a relative, friend, or acquantance is required to drive you home.

What do you do if you don't know anyone? I've lived in this tiny town for 3 months and don't know anyone. I mean, I've chatted with one neighbor for 2 minutes. I know the local bartender. I feel weird asking for them to come get me from the doctor's office.

The person providing the ride is supposed to responsible for you. That's why you're not supposed to take a cab or use Uber or Lyft. Even if I felt fine with asking these people for a ride, I don't know that they are responsible people.

Has anyone else had this problem? Surely people don't have to turn down medical tests they need because they don't know anyone.
