Literally only start my period in the psych ward for like the past five years at least now.

Been off bc, tried the hormonal IUD (was even worse—emotionally, physically, more irregular), switched to arm implant (had it before and never menstruated on it), have been a fking hellcat for like two months and started bleeding the day I was discharged from IP.

The last period I had was in September, also in the hospital after being “manic” for two months. Period before that was in March (again, in the hospital after”rapid cycling” the first three months of the year). It’s been kinda like that my whole life. (NEVER had a regular cycle—I’m 28 and probably had the same amount of “cycles,” (can’t even call it a fking cycle anymore than you can say our patterns of tornadoes in NH is “cyclical.”)

Is my reproductive system like REALLY fked up to the point I am emotionally fked for 3-10 weeks before then am fine until the next one which could be anywhere from 2 months to 4 years down the line or should I say my menstruation is as just triggered by bipolar episodes instead?

I told all the gynecologists I’ve seen (4 different ones over the past 10 years) and one of my recent PCPs this and none of them really seem to care. Told my pdoc in September after that menstruation hospitalization and she just said to track my cycles and episodes and we’ll discuss it again in a year.

I don’t want kids and would be down to get rid of all my organs if that would help. I just don’t know how to handle this in the meantime if I get another period before I find someone that can help me figure this out.

Not sure what meds you're on but some of the anti-psychotics can do a number on your hormones and really mess up your cycles. I know risperidone really messed mine up - it basically sent me into menopause in my mid 30's.

I’m on valium, clonidine, adderall, and pantoprazole right now with PRN Zofran, but that has changed a lot over the past 10 years and before that I wasn’t on anything.
