Awww Lmo.

Ok. . .lord, I can't believe i"m gonna tell ya'll this, but this is the castor oil method as recommended by my midwife.

My DD was a week late. . .had she gone another day, I wouldn't have been able to have her at the birth center, so i was desperate.

Small bottle of castor oil. . .or 4 ounces of the stuff. Mix it with OJ, grapefruit, something like that. The acid cuts the taste and makes it easier to swallow. They also recommended an enema - that is entirely up to you, but let me put it like this. . .NINE months and some change pregnant a/o an extra set of hands. . .it dont mix with trying to deal with a fleets enema. LOL

Take the Castor oil. . .dont eat after you take it. . .trust me on this. Wait till you start um. . ."evacuating" and no, it isn't always "explosive." I ate plenty of fiber the days leading up to labor, and it kept everything from being explosive. After you've begun to "evacuate" eat some carbs, banannas, stuff like that.

Here's why pooping and the castor oil method work. It causes "contractions" in the bowels which are actually quite close to your uterus. The contractions stimulate your uterus to begin to contract!!! Can you believe that? LOL

Castor oil alone doesnt do it all however. . .I also used nipple stimulation with a breast pump. By this time you're producing colostrum anyway, so pump it and store it. That liquid gold is good stuff for baby! If you don't have a pump, gently express the colostrum by hand, or hmmm. . .how do I say this, "tweak" your nipples. (I'm turning sooo red now)

Breast stimulation creates a hormone release which causes the uterus to contract and KEEP contracting. Once it gets the hang of the process, it'll keep doing it by itself.

THis is the "earthy way" of doing the same thing pitocin does and it's easier on YOU and the bamibino.

Good luck sweetie! And if you need anything filled in, or other details, feel free to PM me. I've still got my set of instructions from DD.

Thanks guys - I appreciate the support. Actually, the childbirth class that we took was focused around natural childbirth methods, so I do have all of this information. I'm going to try acupuncture first. I really don't feel the need to rush this along, and I'm ok with trying the prostoglandin, but I've decided no to the pitocin. We'll exhaust the other options before we go that route. Hopefully I'm dilating as I type this (hopefully) but if not, I'm patient - I feel pretty good and if the baby needs more time, then she needs more time. Ok by me - I know that I will miss this feeling, anyway... 6 days until my due date

Thanks - still here - now 3 days past the due date. Going to the OB in about 1/2 hour to see what's going on. I had a great acupuncture session yesterday - the numbness in my hands and arms stopped immediately and I had the best nap I've had in eons. We'll see if any of the induction needles have had any effect - I did start contractions again about an hour after leaving the clinic, but they seemed to have stopped overnight.

Thanks everyone 6 days until my due date
