wondering if folks can give me some insight

i've had irregular periods for a number of years. often skip them all together. but i'm kinda tired of never knowing when i'll start one so i was considering birth control to help regulate.

thought it might help me figure out when i might be having pms vs. depression too.

i'm early 30's. currently take zoloft and wellbutrin for depression. i've never taken birth control before.

i really hate having a period and was thinking of asking the doc about one of those that allow you to just have four periods a year.

can anyone tell me if going on birth control could make me any more depressed than i am normally - considering it fiddles around with hormones?

also, i'm very over weight. doesn't birth control increase the risk of stroke...or am i imagining things?

i don't know... don't know if i should bother with it or not...

any opinions...input would be very much appreciated.

I think you really need to talk to your dr about all your options hon. I never took birth control for long but I had a very early hysterectomy 24 to be exact. really talk to your gyno about it.

But some people say it makes them less depressed, so you just have to see what it does to you. And there are different formulations of pills, so if one makes you depressed, maybe another won't. I agree with bebop, you need to talk to a doctor about your options.
