This is so frustrating. I'm recovering from my 3rd UTI since January. I've seen more than one urologist who can't find anything abnormal. I think I'm doing everything right..(drink my cranberry juice, urinate after sex, wipe front to back, wear cotton underwear, keep things clean, etc). Yet these annoying infections seem to keep finding their way back to me.

I can't even count how many I've had. Perhaps there's something wrong with your system? (that's partly the problem with me, beyond my disability). Unfortunately, 3 in seven months isn't that bad. If you had one every single month though, your doctor/urologist would probably give you a prescription for a once-a-day pill to prevent them (I had that when I was a kid). What pills do they put you on? Sulfa drugs or something else?

Okay, I'm not a medical doctor by any means, but if it happens again (I hope it doesn't) see if they're willing to try Macrobid (also called Nitrofurantoin). I was told by my pharmacist that it's good for acute (frequent) UTIs. I've actually been quite happy with it overall.
Beyond that... cranberry juice, with less sugar, works well. Frequent urination too, even if you don't feel you have to. Beyond that though... I hope you feel better soon. ![]()

Do you drink caffeine? Daughter here had similar problems and her Dr told her that her body could be getting them because of caffeine. She stopped drinking caffeine and she hasn't had problems since. Good luck figuring it all out.

Occasionally I will have a caffeinated soda, but I only keep caffeine free around the house. I'm not into energy drinks, and none of my meds have caffeine. Darn...That would have been too easy. ![]() |

I had a period of frequent UTIs at one point in my life. When I ended my relationship with my partner, they went away. I only had UTIs while I was with this guy and never before and after. I heard later that this is not uncommon, that sometimes the "flora" of two people are just not compatible. I don't know if there is anything that can be done with that, or just to grit your teeth and bear it, or could there be something the partner could do? Have the partner drink cranberry juice also? I don't know, that is probably a silly idea, but if there is something the partner can do to tame their own flora, I would be very interested to hear.
