this is hard for me to ask about. i hate taking care of my health, especially when it comes to the womanly bits.

i think my left ovary is hurting. i don't really know where ovaries are exactly, but i'm thinking it's about where the pain is coming from. this used to happen a few years ago, and i would pass out/throw up from the pain, but eventually it went away.

now it's started up again. the pain is bad, but not passing-out bad. maybe just nausea-bad.

i don't want to go to my GP. she will probably want to send me for tests, or take a look, or something. i've never had a pap-smear, and jesus christ she might think it's a good time to do one of those, too .

i don't *think* it's normal ovulation pain, because my right side hurts sometimes too, but that's more a dull pain that passes within a day or 2. this can go on for weeks.

anyway. i was just hoping someone could tell me what it could be? if i ignore it do you think it might go away again, eventually, like last time? a part of me is also hoping that it might get bad enough that they have to remove the whole damned thing, but i think that's just wishful thinking .

Time to go to the ob-gyn; especially if you've had sex.
This could be something very simple.
I used to have symptoms very similar to you as a youngster. I suffered terribly. Finally went to the doc's who gave me meds and it was like magic; never suffered again!
Go; get it over with. You'll feel much better and be glad you did.

Peace!

what kind of meds did he/she give you? i've tried asking for the pill before, because i thought it might help with some of the pms stuff, but neither my GP or my pdoc thought it was a good idea because i wasn't "stable" enough.

also, with the sex question that they always ask - i never know how to answer. i haven't had sex with a guy, but i used to be in a relationship with a female. does that count? or do they just want to know what size whatever to use?

eta: thank you for replying, sunshine .

you really need to go to the obgyn. it sounds like ruptured ovarian cysts to me and those can, if left untreated, make you unable to have children. i had them and its not certain whether ill be able to have children or not because every time i go off birth control at least 1 ruptures every month.

when i finally got mine checked out and had a hysterosonogram they found over a dozen cysts waiting to burst in both ovaries and a polyp in my uterine lining. so GO TO THE DOCTOR!

I agree. You could have arupture cyst. Those are painful and like suluki said could cause you to be unable to have kids

i'll go to the doctor. i'm just embarrassed because i think she thinks i'm a hypochondriac. i ask really insignificant questions but then leave the big things out.

will probably ask my pdoc first. he can probably tell me how urgent it is, right? i don't like drs.

This is one time your pdoc can't help. YOu need an obgyn.
They will not be surprised about anything you have to say. Yes they will ask about your sex life and no, they won't care what the answer is. Just tell the truth.

I honestly cannot remember what the meds were. It was almost 30 years ago. I'm sorry. But, I'm equally certain that there's plenty of newer meds that you would get today too!

You can ask your pdoc for a reference if that will help you get over the hump, but, do it and please, do it quickly! No one here can diagnose you. But, no one here wants you to suffer needlessly either.

Peace!

It is also perfectly acceptable to ask your pdoc if you can take a mild sedative before you go to the doctor. that is what I do, and it helps me relax!

that's a good idea, rainbowzz! pdoc gave me some ativan before i got a blood test once, so i think he might do it again.

i've kind of decided to put it off for a while. what i'm going to do is chart when the pain comes, so i have a better idea of if it's related to my cycle or not. i dont want to go to my doc and have her think i'm being silly.

I think it's high time you bite the bullet and get a full pelvic exam and Pap test!

It also maybe could be an issue with your kidneys (like an infection)... get to the doctor, take anxiety meds if you need them - but do go see a doctor.
