Good luck with the packing and finding a place to live. And most especially good luck on the job front. Glad you were able to sell.

So sorry you are going through this. I have to think all this financial trouble in the US is causing a kind of depression epidemic. I mean, we don't hear about it in the news but good grief. It's everywhere.

You certainly aren't alone. Since 2007 I've lost my job, been through foreclosure, gone bankrupt, and been unemployed for almost two years. Recently I found a minimum wage part-time job. The management is abusive and the checks are microscopic. But we need the money.

I have two college degrees and a lifetime of professional experience, but it took me two years to find this part-time minimum wage job. I'm supposed to be grateful but in reality it's hard. The work is hard, I'm not that good at it, and I worry all the time. Every single person in our extended family either has a person laid off or unemployed or is in foreclosure or bankruptcy. I don't think the media gives a true picture of how bad it is.

Try not to take it personally. It's not you and it's probably not your wife either. These are very tough times. (((((Hang in there.)))))
Thanks for this!

Update: (Writing in this thread is very therapeutic for me )

Both our families have come through for us, financially and in other ways too. I have no words, only tears to express my gratitude. They must love me after all.

I didn't say that to be a joke, I've never thought they loved me...no, that's not it, I never let them in. I've kept them out all these years. Old pain travels well, doesn't it? I've just stayed closed up.

So, if there's any good to come from this, after all these years, maybe I can let them know more of me and find my acceptance.

Notz, I'm really happy that you're getting financial assistance from both your families. I know how old habits die hard, but I hope you're able to open up and accept thier help with love, and continue to let them into your life. You've helped me a lot, so I know you're a special person let them see that.

You have nothing to feel "shameful" about.
This is a horriable hand you have been dealt, and you are releasing these emotions in a healthy way.
Keep talking we're here.
Thanks for this!

Changes in closing dates, have to resign papers again in the morning. Must be out by noon on Thursday, 3/2.

My family has been in and out of here helping us pack and move. Her family has been helpful in other ways but her parents have become very "distant". I don't know if they're being pissy or if something else is going on. Can't worry about that now.

The house is a messy disaster! Getting that echo sound to it.

Well, the long and the short of it is we're out of the house, contents in storage and staying/renting with our good friend Dave. More details to follow...exhausted. What a whirlwind of a few days!!

REally glad that you survived the move and it's over, and that you have a place to stay. Now I'll wish you luck on the job front.

I don't have words for what you've been through. This economy is hitting all of us hard. Hopefully, the closeness you've gotten from your family continues and grows. That , in a perfect world, is all we need. The world is far from perfect though...
Thinking of you.
