According to the news experts are saying Europe is facing another recession in the next few WEEKS! So just as the world recession is supposedly "over" we get another one to ourselves.
And also I think they should rephrase the whole "out of the recession" thing, it's misleading. While technically we're not getting poorer we're not getting any richer either. They should say, "good news, recession's over, you won't get any poorer... You can just get used to being poor for a long time now."
But yea, harsh times.

I like to think I'm a funny person and I'll laugh at almost anything, but I don't think the death of 1 million people and the emigration of another 1 million people is funny.
I think it's people like you who stop the world moving on by holding all these old prejudices and making mean remarks without thinking.
I could become the stereotypical Irish Paddy with a balaclava on my face holding a flag (or a gun) and singing songs telling British soldiers to go home.
But I don't because that won't get us anywhere; politically or as the human species.

Oops. My apologies for the inadvertent troll. I tend to joke about religion, politics and economics without thinking much about it, although I'd be offended if I was on the receiving end. I love the Irish, by the way. I hope things aren't as bad over there as they are here.

Thank you for the apology, my response was probably a bit hot headed too and I'm sorry but you have to be aware of what is offensive to some people.
Thanks for this!

I'm happy you're accepting my apology, Denis. Sometimes I'll just post something without thinking much. They don't teach Irish history in schools here so I was just showing how "smart" I am. I just ordered an Irish CD the other day and am waiting for it to arrive so I can listen to some great music.

Europe as continent has a host of financial difficulties ahead as does the US. The big gorilla in the room for both entities is wealth redistribution programs. Both now have so many people dependent on others to eat that is putting a tremendous economic strain on those that do work and produce wealth.

More than likely Italy and Spain, Greece, and Portugal will end up in full default within the next year or so and that will start dragging the rest of the EU into a real mess.

I hope something can be worked out for all your sakes and ours ( The EU debt has a real effect on US banks as well, because we are holding quite a bit of those notes through various financial mechanisms)

Two things to remember:
* No one can have a debt crisis unless someone else has lent them money.
* No one can run a trade deficit unless someone else is running a surplus.

I'm in the US and was out of work for 2 years(!!!) until recently. Whenever I heard the unemployment numbers in the news, I had to remind myself that I don't need 6 million new jobs..I JUST NEED ONE!

Persistance pays off and acting does't hurt. Most people want a coworker who is pleasant and not a diva or a brat. Like-ability is half the battle. My thoughts go out to all looking for a living wage!
Thanks for this!
