I just got fired on Tuesday for attendance at a new job. I am Bipolar, PTSD and struggle with getting out of bed some mornings. I had documentation for my absences but without qualifying as a disability in paperwork, they let me go.
I struggle so much with attendance at times. Does anyone else go through this? I am a hard worker and am good at the jobs I have had, but I've found that attendance is the most important thing. When you aren't so limited by mental illness as to need to go on disability, but are limited enough that some days are hard, how do you cope with this? |

I really struggled with the same problem back when I was in school and occasionally with work (although never to the point where I got fired). After everything the best thing I've learnt to do is just to push through it. Even if you hate your job, it's better to be miserable and on your feet than in bed, and it helps a bit with job stability. Some days it's just impossible, but for the most part find a way to just push through it and you'll find yourself doing better.

I lost my job earlier this year for the first time due to my absences and depression. I don't know how to help but just to say that I understand not being bad enough to be disabled but have trouble holding down a job. It is so unbelievably hard. I would think that your medication needs to be changed maybe. Antidepressants don't work for me, at least the ones I have tried, but hopefully whatever medication you are on, or might try, will work for you. Hugs to you.
