...surely that's what every employer asks for? Someone who'll do the work, who CAN do the work, who won't challenge the authorities in the company, and most importantly, makes sure the company doesn't make less money than before. Well SOMEONE has to be blamed for something going wrong, and it's of course blaming the newest person among your staff which is the easiest thing to do...

Actually, my experience has been that employers do want perfect. Why do we have things like 6-Sigma and such if they don't want perfect? And the newest person isn't necessarily the one that gets blamed. Often, it's the person who steps up and say, "You can't do X because of Y." You know, that person that doesn't feel an employer can do just whatever they want without a thought to the consequences.

So yeah, companies do want perfect. Anyone who says otherwise is selling something or in HR.
