Trying to stave off total boredom and receiving the usual bipolar disability check and that's it just got too boring so I signed up for two temp agencies. Both didn't really know about the other. What if they both call me at once? Is it a big deal if I say I can't do it because I'm signed up with another temp agency? I have physical therapy twice a week. I only have to do this until February 12th because then I'll probably find a permanent job by then. Also, is it a big deal to only have worked there for three weeks at both temp agencies? Lol. It seems to me that the current economy is worse than ever. So far in the entire month of January my home business only made $15 because nobody is buying. So I got really bored and joined two temp agencies, what are my obligations to two at once?

In today's job market, you gotta use every resource available. Yeah, it's okay. It's also smart. Companies, or at least their departments, generally deal with one staffing agency, so you're essentially applying for twice as many jobs.

Agreed. You don't even have to hide it. It's prudent. The only time it's a problem is if you sign an exclusivity agreement and you'd never do that at a temp agency nor without a guarantee of work. Nobody's in the position to guarantee work It's first come. When your assignment is up call them both.

Agree with Michanne. You don't have to tell the temp agencies about each other. If you're working a job at one and the other calls about another job, just say you're unavailable. Then when the job ends, call the other agency and tell them you're available again.

You decide on a job as it comes along, you don't have any obligation to take the agencies about the other. If one calls with a job you accept it or not and then if the other calls, if you have already accepted a job you tell them you are sorry you are busy this "week" (or however long the job is supposed to be for) but please call you next week, etc.

I'm signed up with 6 temp agencies. I've only worked for 2. I just take whatever work I can get.

I have done this before and it's ok. It gives you more options.
