I've been job hunting for about two months now, it has been pretty challenging. I have been dealing with insomnia and depression - I have bipolar. So it's hard to stay focused and motivated. It's also difficult to interview, I've had a few interviews lately but no results.
I'm trying to decide whether to just accept any menial job now or try to stick to my field. I need to get some cash flow so I can see and pdoc and therapist and start getting more stable. I don't think I'm on the right medication. I worry about getting a job and being able to keep it, I don't know what to do anymore but am tired of being broke and feeling hopeless.

Are you registered with any temp agencies? I could see wanting to take any job just to get some cash flow. There's nothing wrong with that as long as the job/hours don't prevent you from continuing to look for something in your field. Seasonal jobs can be good to bridge the gap, too.

Good luck on your job search updown! I was out of work for months, searching for a full-time law-related position (I'm an attorney but was willing to work as a paralegal). Nothing came up after a couple of interviews, so I start a part-time temp job this week (not law-related after all). I am in a bipolar depression too, and have poor sleep.

It may not be a bad idea to accept a job that will help you get on your feet, however I wouldn't settle for that. You are perfectly capable I'm sure of finding and working at a meaningful job. Don't cut yourself short because of an illness. ![]() |
