I have had a few interviews some phone interviews and a couple in person interviews. I have done a lot of calling and leaving messages to employers with nothing in return. Things have drastically changed as I moved to another city 40 mins away from my part time job and looking for work in my new area (live with friends as a temp solution) which there is a lot of employers surrounding the house.

I had an interview earlier today with a retail company (3rd time interviewing with them in a long time) was told thee's no guarantee 40 hr shifts the hours are inconsistent so is my part time schedule. I also applied to a supervisor position this morning at least I will have hours and it is full time. My friend is mentoring me on being more motivated to get a full time job anywhere and swallow your pride.

So, I have been applying everywhere nothing but part time. The goal still is getting my own place and part time will not cut it for me at all. Being part time now is still hindering me from moving onto full time since like I have said a lot my employer will not give me full time unless I apply externally and wait a month to hear back from the committee if I am selected. I get tired of applying to college positions yet still not qualified because I am a temp.

Another grocery retail is looking for part time like really? OMG, I am still trapped in my current position. a 2nd job won't work anymore too many schedule changes and me being relied on way too much. I have been trying to find positions that are immediate hire or a start date that's close by so I can leave my job asap.

So yea, I am looking forward to getting my own place in this new city. There is still too much waiting in the job market. I don't want to take another job where the hours are inconsistent like what I have now if work is available we will let you know etc. That's my update on interviewing this Aug will be two years of job searching for full time how ridiculous!

Ladytiger, you are doing a good job of getting out there. It sounds like you are interviewing a lot and doing all the appropriate follow up. You said you are being mentored for motivation, but you sound very motivated all ready to me. Keep up the work and motivation and something will come along. Kudos to you!

Thank you. My roommates feel I'm not pulling enough of my weight. Give me time geez! Makes my living situation not good like listening to my parents I want a morning shift at 6am so I don't have to be bothered.

I would hate to take another part time job but I need a job close to my new home not 40 minutes away like my current job. They said this is short term living arrangement the goal 4 me is to be independent yet goals take time.

It's still a employers market, that's more people looking for work than there are jobs available, so they take advantage of that by offering less than full time employment so they don't have to pay benefits. Good job on getting the interviews, that's half the battle.

I totally agree employers still run the market and get to pick whoever they want usually an idiot. It's good to be recognize again for interviewing. So tired of this small check still waiting for a job offer already contacted recruiter to follow up. I've started telling myself I'm gonna succeed no matter what it is so I can hurry up and get my own place

I agree it'll be 2.5 yrs soon at my current job. I'm stressing because I spent a lot of money this month had to do a lot of cuts spending too much money in general. I need a big increase from another employer.

We'll see tomorrow on my interviews still nothing from financial company emailed recruiter again earlier it's past Tuesday. I'm still gonna apply tomorrow before I leave.

Seems another promising company wants to interview me soon. Finished meeting with the recruiter in person earlier this morning so happy! I have my next interview with an organic grocery store soon let's see how that goes. I went to a fast food place I told this assistant manager that I have been trying to call the manager for an interview they do in person interviews during the times I currently work so she took down my name and number yet he wasn't there.

Update!

I just got hired! Through a temp agency full time and pays great! I just need to work hard and get my own place soon - one step closer to self sufficient. Anyone here who has done/currently works in call centers how do you handle talk time and metrics? My call center experience with my college employer doesn't use that at all but we have to be mindful of our talk time especially on the help desk side - that has been my weakness. Just looking for some tips to be successful.

Congratulations! I knew something would come up for you. You've been looking so hard for work and been really great to get out there. Just keep that motivation up during the new job.

I can't help much with call metrics. I did telefunding (tele-fundraising) when I was younger and our call metrics were really on how fast we could close a deal and get the donation in, and how big the donation was. Usually there is a script for you to follow.

Congrats again!

Thank you everyone! I had an interview today with a dealership pay was 12 not bad but 13 is better they called to let me know they hired from within after I was just told they would keep interviewing next week. That's all the interviews I also got a call from a recruiter in another state for a position that was close to where I used to live. which is now 45ish minutes from me so no.

I have also been telling myself that I am gonna succeed no matter what as I am getting closer to getting my own place in Sept.
