Ha ha, I missed your post... but I keep up with former coworkers and usually regret not keeping up with even more of them. Former coworkers have been a great source of jobs for me.
Thanks for this!

I have many good friends that were former colleagues. Some very close, others still only acquaintances but we keep up with each other from time to time.
Thanks for this!

hvert, you convinced me since you responded to my missing post, so I will share.

I have two coworkers from my first job that I have dinner with every year (usually in Nov or Dec). It is good to keep in touch, but they spend the time complaining about people I don't even know at their company and how terrible everything is there. It is the same every year. I left their company so I don't really want to listen to all the problems there. It brings back my bad memories of that job. I don't feel like I should put myself through it again. I am feeling guilty because I am going to tell them I am not meeting them this year.

That sounds sensible of you, self care is important.

I guess you could just say you're very busy this year rather than confront the real reason, that would spare them possible hurt.
Thanks for this!

Ahhh, yeah, I would do the same thing in that case: not want to go but feel sort of bad about it.

I recently went out with a former coworker recently who was so positive about how much better everything was there that I'm not going to see her again!
Thanks for this!

Hi Yzen
Guilt is getting in the way of a lot of our decisions. I think you are doing a terrific job of kicking guilt's butt and doing what feels right for you!! Xo
Thanks for this!

That is a good point. Guilt interferes with many of our decisions and it is heightened since I am prone to depression. I wouldn't be accepting myself if I let guilt cause me to have that dinner when I don't believe it will be good for me.
