Hello! I have been getting extremely heated when people at work use the word "frankly" in any context. I don't entirely understand why, but it's reaching the ranks of the phrase "I hear ya," which I have trouble with because of its dismissive tone.
Does anyone have ideas on how to be more tolerant of language-type triggers like these, especially in the context of professional interactions? Thank you! |

Another one people say that I find dismissive is "Aaaannnnyyyywwwwaaaayyyy". I share your sentiments about people showing, or appearing to show they don't care about what you're saying. For me personally, that signals the end of communications and probably the last time I discuss anything of importance with that person.
I too need to work on not writing people off and resenting their presence due to catch phrases they may not intend to offend with. |

I can understand why you'd find that word irritating, tinyvessels. It sounds like it probably precedes an insult disguised as advice.
![]() You could try to dismiss the word entirely, & then try to hear the statement that follows as an opinion. ![]()
