Fired. Am I surprised? Yes. Should I be? Probably not.

I went for one job and they offered me another one. It was a bad fit from day one.

I am really trying to not be a drama queen right now. I am trying to not let myself become filled with self-loathing and despair.

It is funny that just yesterday I almost felt happy. I felt things were starting to turn around.

This will be a big test to see if I can cope and use DBT skills.

I will probably take a bit of a break from Psych Central.

Sorry you got fired. I know you gave it your all. Based on what you said about the work environment it may be for the best. I hope it works out that it was the best thing that ever happened to you...getting fired that is.

Why would you take a break from PC during a time when support would be a good thing?

I have been posting a lot in the past month. I was working so hard to stay out of depression in 2017. I have been trying to set up therapy, and cope with a work injury. Yesterday I made the decision to no longer allow suicidal ideation. But with getting fired I see how weak and fragile I am. Everyone on here has their own problems. I am NOT going to go back to depression and suicidal ideation but all I can do now is just breathe. I don't want to tax the good folk here on PC.

I'm so sorry, Dechan. I know you were really trying. Not to be cliche, but try to stay positive and look at this as an opportunity to find something that is a better fit and won't stress your system so much.

I'm sorry to hear that you were fired. I can relate (I was not fired, but my contract ended and it was not renewed). It can feel very discouraging! But hopefully this will lead you to find a job that will be a better fit.

Maybe it is more about big corporations. You described my experience. I went for one job that was advertised. But they offered me another job I had not even considered -- and I think it was always a bad fit. They said I could go to another department if I didn't like where they sent me but later they said there wasn't anything else available. Anyway, I was a big mouth and complained about the hours which kept changing and the cut hours, and some other stuff. Also, when I hurt my finger they failed to have me fill out an accident report for four days -- until 5 seconds before they fired me! I think it's gonna be alright. I have been fired before - usually because I was in the wrong job and took it because I needed money and jumped on the first thing that came along. Often when people get fired they find a better job. It has happened to me. I am just still feeling a bit angry but I'll get over it. Thanks for the support.

I know u will bounce back from this. If this is to personal you don't have to answer. I don't know what your state employment laws are but I don't see any reason for them to fire you and in some states they don't but I hope you still file a UC claim.

There's a lot of bad stuff online about them from other employees both current and not. I would rather just move on and forget about this.

I'm sorry, that sucks. That sounded like a pretty awful place to work, between the bait and switch job and the injury. Getting fired hurts emotionally, but not working there seems like a much healthier option in the long run.

I can relate to when you say you jumped on the first thing that came along.
I was exactly the same. I was ashamed to be on benefits, and I had pressure from my family or in fact I was determined to prove them wrong when they called me a waste of space,
I got fired from not one, not two but THREE jobs because I didn't fit in with the girls. Or one job I was simply hopeless at it. I wasn't ready to go back to work, I needed a long break to recover from my psychotic episode but I never got the time or space to sort my head out.
Then six years on, I finally had a respectable job and I made a made a HUGE cockup. So I quit and planned to move away, id had enough. I ended up out of action for three years - two of them I was bordered on alcoholism. I'm still rebuilding , painstakingly one brick at a time...

Don't worry if you need time out to re evaluate. Hold out for something that grabs you
