I have a coworker that has been fired numerous times for various reasons, but always gets his job back. We are a union company so it's hard to get fired unless you're caught stealing. The last time he was fired was for threatening to blow up a customers building. I was shocked he got his job back after that. The other day he told a coworker he was not taking his medicine anymore. Since then his behavior has gotten more erratic. He even made a threat at a coworker. Being Bipolar and having GAD I go to therapy twice a month. I've mentioned this situation to my therapist. She was shocked he still has a job and advised me to avoid him. Now we are working in the same position three times a week. He has never threatened me personally, but just having him in close proximity to me has got my anxiety working overtime. Any suggestions?
Thanks for this!

What kind of threat did he make to your coworker?

I guess you could try and talk to HR? But if he hasn't made any kind of threat or comments to you, you really don't have any kind of complaint to make. They must have hired him back for a reason. If you have concerns though, you could always sit down with HR and voice those concerns.

He threatened to "Cut his *ng head off." He also said we would learn to stop messing with him and that he was a "Single white male and could do whatever the F he wanted."

HR nows he is unstable. Like I said he has been fired numerous times, but each time the union gets his job back. I feel like if the police got involved as a workplace violence case it would take care of the problem, however he has never threatened me.

A guy a couple years ago was always threatening people and one day he shoved a another guy that pressed charges. The aggressor got to keep his job, but he is on medication and a short leash.

Anyway you can set him up so that they would have cause to fire him?

You shouldn't have to put up with that and frankly, you might be doing him a favor by making him go to another job.

If he were to threaten me personally I would have no problem calling the cops and pursuing it. I don't want to set him up though. I just wouldn't feel right about doing it.

Keep records. Write down everything said, with the dates, who was there. Keep good clear evidence of these incidents.

If you have a good union they should support you as you are the victims of his unreasonable behaviour.

Well I've been reported now. The trouble coworker was harassing two women that came on our premises for business. I went and sat beside them and they thanked me for just sitting there so he wouldn't comeback. My friend had warned them about him. After work the troublemaker reported that we were intimidating him and he no longer felt safe around us. I never said a word to him and didn't make any threatening gestures. I just went and asked the ladies if they would like for me to set with them. This is getting absurd.

Have you documented all the incidents and presented them to your manager? Did you log this most recent incident? You need to start documenting everything that happens, factually and accurately, that is your evidence for defence.
Thanks for this!

Oh good lord... that is absurd. I'm sorry you're dealing with this. We have one off his meds, too, but he's fast from this bad. Ours just isn't mentally present at all (and we are in an involuntary psych ward. He has left razors unattended). I feel for you. I would definitely document everything (as difficult as that can be).
