Hooray!

I posted a while back about how I was in a program called "Youth Job Connect". You attend 60 hours worth of workshops (that you are paid for attending), and afterwards your job profile is sent to job developers and you are matched with something that suits your qualifications and individual needs. I finished the program and was waiting for a while...got an interview and I start on Monday!

It is a part-time job (Monday, Wednesday and Friday shifts that are 5 hours long), which is perfect for me. I will be working in stocking and price integrity at Canadian Tire. Looking forward to getting back into the work force. I am very grateful for being on disability but it feels SO much better to receive money that I feel like I worked hard for.

Crossing my fingers that it goes well, I am both excited and nervous!

Must be nice to live in a country that actually has good programs in place for those of us with MI. I truly envy you right now.

Regardless, I hope it goes well.

It saddens me to read that these services are not available to everyone, because I think they are extremely helpful to those with mental health issues. I know that I would have a much harder time finding a job without the help of my worker and these employment services. I wish you the best of luck on your job search.

Just had my first shift today. It was all computer training so it was quite dry, but I did it! My next shift I will finish up the last of my computer training and then start job shadowing someone and learn the ropes. Looking forward to it!

I have a steady schedule of working Monday, Wednesday and Friday so my second shift isn't until tomorrow.
