Just got off the phone with my doctors office. It's still early and I'm having a bad day so my voice is a little rusty. It's a new medical doctor for me, and I couldn't remember his name. So the secretary starts to talk to me like I'm a child: "Ok, this is Dr. Bozo's office, Do you remember where your parents are little boy?" That was her exact tone.
Why? Just why are some people such a-holes?

One time I went for a bike ride in the small city I live in.
A young woman was with children I assume her relatives. She called "Excuse me, kid." I halted my ride and faced her. "Can you take a picture of us?". I complied, and then assertively added "I'm a little older than a 'kid'". She asked what's my age, I answered "22". I think she apologized afterwards.

How old are you?

Ug, I don't know if that's a mental health stigma or just a-hole receptionists at doctor's offices. I get that all the time at doctor's offices, receptionist or administrative assistant staff who treat everyone with disrespect because they are miserable and have a little bit of power as a receptionist.

seesaw, yeah exactly. My problem I guess is that I took it personally. Man I wish I could stop doing that.

People suck. I used to be the chubby nerdy kid that everybody picked on or treated like I was some kind of idiot.

I don't put up with it anymore. If somebody is to be rude to me or disrespects somebody that has mental health issues or is an introvert, I treat them the same way and believe me I can be intimidating if I need to me. I've been told my more than one person that I am freaking crazy and I scare them because I tell it like it is; if you are being an idiot I don't sugar cote it I will say you're being an idiot.

Now, if said person is a boss that putting in his place would put me at risk, I plot against them from the shadows. Any boss who abuses his or her power to make other people miserable better hope they don't encounter me or I will take great pleasure in ruining their career.

So yeah my point being is life is too short to let other people make you miserable. If somebody gives you lemons squeeze lemon juice in their eyes. Don't put up with anybody's abuse; after all telling that receptionist to screw off and stop disrespecting people can't get you in trouble; it's not like you are threatening their family or anything.

Best of wishes!

I have a friend who is an astronomer and use to go to elementary schools to referee their science fairs. She's short and looked very young and when trying to find the right people/room, etc. the teachers and administrators would mistake her for a child.

I'd get indignant; "Excuse me, but what's with your tone of voice? I'm 40 years old."

When I go to an office I get the sense they just hate themselves. Maybe they need to see one of their own specialists they work for?! They always sound so blah. It makes me rethink my own mental state!
